Yes, we pay for full day. You can find more info on seattleschools.org and click on schools/enrollment.

Just found this link. Many Seattle schools (almost half) have free full day kindergarten.
So move to a poor neighborhood and you're in the clear!!

Sometimes tone is hard to figure out in a text format like this. I'm not mad at all. I was just trying to provide some additional relevant content by providing this link. (I just learned this information myself during my lunch break today because the topic interested me.)
It seems sorta strange that some people get free kindergarten and others have to pay. But that's the way it is. I live in Highpoint (redeveloped area.) There are many $400k plus new homes. Yet these folks can get free full day kindergarten.
It's not a Seattle decision, though. The Federal government is making up the difference by paying for the portion of kindergarten that the state does not pay for certain schools with poor students. I think (but am not sure) this is part of the No Child Left Behind law. Say what you want about Bush, but he spent more money on education in his first term alone than Clinton spent in both of his terms combined.

We've had to pay. Not sure when it started but it has been in existence for at least the last 6 years. The price keeps going up but not much.
