Dishwasher question

I stupidly turned the dial around too many times when it was on, and now it won't turn on. I drained all the water from inside the machine and it wanted to start again but of course I turned the dial again and now it really won't turn on. Have I broken it or is there a reset function?

Try turning the dial to the point it was at in the cycle when it was running. That is, at the point in the cycle it was at when you turned the dial too many times.

  3. Can you get the model number off the dishwasher? You can often get a manual online (if you don't have one) and/or talk to someone in customer service to ask questions like this specific to your machine.

We had a dishwasher that had similar symptoms about 6 months ago(although it didn't have a dial - it just simply wouldn't turn on anymore). The company was able to answer some questions on how to reset it, and I had tried switching the power off as well to see if it would reset. Nothing happened. Turned out the computer (or something like that) blew, and it was now a paperweight, unless we paid as much $ to repair as to replace. My landlord chose to replace it.

  5. Since you said dial, I wonder if you might have stripped the ratchet notches (not sure if that is the real term) inside the knob. Try pulling the knob straight off, and see if you can turn the metal thing that sticks out (in this case I am sure that's not the real term) with a pair of pliers (careful not to squeeze too hard, esp if there is a split in it). If you do, and the machine intiates, you'll just need a replacment knob.
