I wanted to let you all know that dad had 1.5 years cancer-free due to your help getting him to and from his intensive chemo/radiation that summer. He saw my brother get married this August and he helped my husband and me pick out our home in July.
Dad died on Wednesday evening 12/21/11. While he beat Pancreatic Cancer and far exceeded his life expectancy after diagnosis, Wednesday it was discovered that he had a massive clot in the vena cava, the vein that leads to the lungs and to the heart. During a last-ditch effort to dissolve that clot, it dislodged, went to his lungs and killed him.
He was surrounded by his family when he died, and he was so damned brave. He was a warrior, and he was my hero.
To all who helped him in his fight by providing rides to and from treatment, thank you. Thank you for giving us that extra year and a half. I appreciate every minute we had with him, and I thank you for those minutes.
