Does anyone know if WS schools participated in this? I don't hear much about the social activism of the students here, but I do know (I have my sources) that it exists.

Madison Middle School participated.

It was mentioned in the Sealth daily bulletin, which we see each morning via e-mail. If there were any public events/demonstrations, we didn't hear about them, tho.

There are a number of West Sea kids at Washington Middle School, where ribbons and cards were handed out, and where students had the opportunity to remain silent.

Sealth did participate. Staff were supportive of the students who wished to remain silent the entire day.

My daughter and her friends participated at West Seattle High School.
Good for them!

Sometimes it takes kids
to remind us what is importantPosted 1 year ago # -
Sounds like the folks who know of events like this should shoot an email to WSB -- they can't possibly keep track of every national day of <foo> that has local impact so the wonderful kids need to let us know what they're doing.
I can understand they might be reluctance to bring these events to public notice, but that's really the next step.
Thanks to all of you for posting what did happen locally.
