I will be hosting a garage sale this weekend Saturday the 11th, benefiting the Crohns and Colitis foundation (CCFA). It will be from 8-5pm at 4749 51st PL SW Seattle, WA 98116. All money collected will be donated to the foundation.

I am a long time resident of West Seattle, currently undergoing Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

    Here is my story:
I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis April 29th 2008. My illness was first thought to be food posioning after a night out with the ladies in March. Flu like symptoms came and went over several weeks, losing more than 30 pounds in body weight, not being able to keep any nutrients in my body. I underwent diagnostic testing revealing I have Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Little is known about what causes Crohn's Disease and there is no known cure. I am currently a mother to a 18 month old son who is the light of my life and want nothing more than to be healthy for him. I will be on medicine and other treatments, as well as dealing with flare-ups for the rest of my life. I would like to give back to this foundation to help raise money while I am healthy to hopefully find a cure.

  4. The Crohns and Colitis Foundation (CCFA) is a great cause for two diseases that a lot of folks do not like to talk about.

A few other great resources for people with either of these diseases are:

And for everyone else... consider getting a colonoscopy if you are in your 40s or older.
