Creep at Solstice Park

I know this doesn't sound like a lot, but on top of the guy being chased down the steps last week and the fact that this person made the hair at the back of my neck stand up, I thought I needed to share/warn my neighbors. I live near solstice park and took my dogs for a morning walk today, about 6:00 am. I don’t have a problem with stragglers/homeless at the parks, you usually ignore them and they ignore you. Also, I was walking my full grown German Shepherd and Doberman and this is usually enough to avoid random encounters. However, this morning as I was about to enter the field at the top of the park I noticed a man standing with his back to me. He was wearing tan Carhart type pants, a grayish sweatshirt (hood up), a backpack and holding a gallon water jug. One of my dogs was lagging and I looked away long enough to see what she was doing and when I looked back the man had turned toward me and was now staring at me very menacingly with his hand in front of his face flipping me off. He stood like this, standing in the same spot but pivoting to follow me as I got my bearings and realized this was not a good situation and as quickly as possible walked out of the park. The encounter lasted about 3 minutes, but it is THE most threatened I have ever felt in Seattle and unfortunately occurred within blocks of my house.

I think this is where I want to tell Tracy/WSB thank you for having had such in-depth coverage about this guy. Dusky, it's too bad you've come late to this, or you would have known who that person was who must have scared you terribly and ruined your morning. I have never seen him--just his telltale and shocking graffiti--and that was horrendous enough. At least my family and I are aware of his presence in our community. And, again, I need to let the WSB know how grateful we are for keeping us informed.

I think you all are right. I do remember reading about him, but he had sort of faded out of my memory.
    Thank you for your input.

Wasn't he being evaluated at Western State Hospital? Is he back?

  9. He wasn't committed. We have reported a couple updates including at a recent West Seattle Crime Prevention Council meeting. I believe I have told Dusky this in e-mail, but PLEASE report suspicious encounters to police, even if the phone-answerer doesn't sound thrilled ... otherwise they have no way of knowing what's going on. But I also caution you, of course, we don't know for sure it was the same guy.

I have seen him around the Admiral Safeway a couple times in the past week or so. I grew up with this guy and his family is like my family.........but he scares the HEdoublehockeysticks out of me. Sad sad sad. In a weird way, I hope it was him that Duskyviolet encountered.....Lord knows we don't need someone else........
