consignment clothing store

  1. Anyone have a recommendation for a clothing consignment store other than Funky Janes? This is not a dig on them - I do like that store, but to consign, you have to be one of the first 10 people to call at 10:30 am and make an appoinment for same day drop off and I'm never a lucky dialer. So, I got a section of closet just waiting.

  2. Try Labels up on Greenwood. They have great clothes and you can usually get in for a appt within the month. Don't have to have clothes on hangers or anything. They also take kids clothes.

There's also Cherry Consignment in WS but never used them.

  3. Have you tried Cherry Consignment on California/Genessee? I've heard great things about them, but never consigned with them.

Also, not in West Seattle, but Classic Consignment in Ballard is fantastic. Their website: http://classicconsignmentseattle.com/Home_Page.php

Second the nod to Labels up in Greenwood. I pretty much give them back all the money I make selling clothes with them because they have such a good selection.

Tried doing consignment with Cherry Consignment, but they apparently didn't sell anything I brought them.

Well if wigirl won't do it I will. I'm sick of trying to deal with Funky Janes. Over the years I have had some really great clothes that I no longer want and have tried many many times to deal with the owner and she is so rude and difficult to deal with. It shouldn't be that hard and she makes it that way.

I am so excited that a new consignment shop has opened in West Seattle!

Thansen, I experienced the same the one time I visited the store. My inquiry about consigning clothing was met with a rude attitude and being handed a flier with the store's "rules" for consigning. The woman acted as though I was an idiot for not already being in the know. I never felt compelled to return after that experience.

I have found that donating this clothing to charity gives me satisfaction.

This way, one does not need to get in a tizzy over someone treating you with less respect than you think you are entitled to.

I believe in and love consignment stores!

Not to diss on Funky Jane's but here's a list of most of the women's consignment shops in the metro area. I've been shopping at many of these places forever it seems.

Labels (on Greenwood Ave.) and Classic (one block north of Market in DT Ballard) are indeed great.

Also, Felicia's in Laurelhurst and Fury on Madison in the valley tend to have a different eye to style but are very nice too with frequent and great mark downs on higher end lines, including shoes.

Red Light on Cap Hill - punk, goth and retro...

There are great consignment choices in our fair city. There's even a Gentleman's consignment, also on Madison in the valley.

    Happy bargain hunting!

I have to recommend Funky Jane's. Angela and her employees are always pleasant and friendly. My daughter in Bothell brings her clothes to Funky Jane's.

Friendly reminder: This is West Seattle Blog, not Greenwood.

I have consigned with Cherry and love them. They did sell my stuff. And I just recently dropped off several more items. I just walked in, though it was afternoon on a Friday when I suppose most people are still at work.

Also, Cherry will let you mark anything you want back if it doesn't sell, so there's that.

  12. MarySheely...

I am not a Cherry fan.
my stuff was in their back room for nearly 3 months without ever making it to the floor...
and when i picked it up some items were missing

    i haven't been back since

By limiting the number of people bringing clothes in onamy given day, Funky Jane is able to process everything in a timely manner. Clothes don't sit in a back room waiting for someone to have time to take care of them.

i get that the policy works for Funky Janes...
clothes sit in my garage (no spare closet) instead :)

I know that crossing the Duwamish ain't for everyone, but for those of us that do, and have information to share about a positive experience with a consignment shop (the number of which are limited in WS) then I see no harm in mentioning those as well.

WS, fab as it is, still doesn't provide us with everything we could ever need (that would be an espresso-machine repair shop for me!) so a friendly direction to an "outside" establishment is welcome.

  16. If you are size 14 or up, there is a consignment store you might want to check out called Two Big Blondes.
Sign up for their email / twitter / fb or go check it out. The n'hood is not WS, but the owner and staff are friendly, helpful and I was very surprised at how much stuff they had the first time I went. Very easy to consign with too.

Like any consignment store you never know when you might find something. There are times when I haven't found anything, and other times I have hit the jackpot (nwt silk dress from JCrew for $25). I've consigned some items there and some stuff sells, some doesn't. I've had the most luck selling accessories, jewelry & shoes.

  17. I just checked out their selection on eBay, and it's quite good. http://stores.ebay.com/Two-Big-Blondes/

JoB I get that you had a disappointing experience with them, but that has emphatically not been the case with me. I'm simply balancing out your negative review with my positive review. Mine is just as sincere.

it's obvious to me that someone must be having a positive experience with Cherrys since they are still in business...

Just because they didn't work out well for me doesn't mean they won't work well for their target audience...

they say there is a but for every seat.
I think mine was simply too large to fit there :(

  20. I like going to Many Moons. They take all my stuff, including mens and kids. What they can't sell is donated to charity. One stop closet empty is my kind of place. Also, I have found some amazing clothes there as well. I found a little black dress for $15 that is knock down gorgeous. I feel like Jackie O. everytime I put it on.

I've had the same experience with Funky Janes - make a call, try to get an appt, no luck and then treated poorly when coming in - again, like I should know how it works.

Cherry- took in a lot of really nice clothes and made maybe $10 on them. Consignment works if you're the buyer, not the seller.

I just donate it all now, its not worth the hassle. OR perhaps we have a WS gathering/meetup where we all have a clothes swap?

    Just a thought...

I like the local clothing swap idea..
maybe we could tie it into a fundraiser for a good cause..
