what are you wearing to the royal wedding? (Coverage begins at 4 a.m. tomorrow -- pajamas with feet might be appropriate.)

Seriously, is anyone as excited about this as George Stephanopolous is? I just don't get it -- I'm not a culture snob, I'm addicted to every variant of American housewife. Project Runway -- the next season is already pencilled in my calendar.

But this royal wedding leaves me royally bored.

  2. I believe that is because William and Kate are royally boring!

4 a.m. on the EAST coast...I'm only mildly interested. Just enough to watch one tv tabloid recap of the highlights the next day; not nearly enough to turn on the tube at 1 in the morning.

  5. There are British citizens I care about, but these are not them. I am not even sure which ones are getting married.

I don't give a rats patoot about the doings of any American celebutards or economic aristocrats either until they try to buy an election.

Charlabob: I am boycotting Project Runway due to the outrageous choice of Gretchen over Mondo in Series 8. Kors and Garcia have lost their marbles - and their mojo.

JoB - I know, I know. I love seeing the new designers. I'm so torn...

I don't want to hijack this thread - even though the wedding is over and hardly anyone really cares - but which are your favorite PR designers?

  13. redblack..

my brain has not rotted because i appreciate fashion
any more than ken's has rotted because he appreciates the finer points of mother boards
or yours because you appreciate ..... ?

i don't really have favorite designers..
i get off on the process..
watching them grow individually as their sense of themselves is challenged
or not ... as the case may be.

i have had a lifelong fascination with the fashion industry...
and think that if not for life's circumstances
like my age and my body's lack of cooperation
i would have been one of the young turks on that show:)

I am a Tim Gunn fan...
i think i would watch anything he was in..

    I bought his book...
And i have to confess that i am wallowing in his fussy dishing about the anachronisms of civility...
oh.. and juicy Project Runway gossip :)

    Make it work :)))

  15. did someone get married last night?
i must have slept through it.

what will the tabloids do now that will he? won't he? is dead?

Tim Gunn rocks. What a gentleman. JoB, I used to be a fashionista, too. Even had the looks to go with it - but not the temperament. Which is why PR is interesting; it's about creative process, unlike other shows like Top Model which focus on bitch-slapping bimbos (can I say that on WSB?)!

As to the wedding, I suppose they'll begin to harass Harry now...I think it would be splendid if he turned out to be gay. Sure doesn't look like his dad, does he? Ooooooh, snarky gossip is such a guilty pleasure......

Watched some recap this morning on Today...nice, predictable. But, best moment ever? When W & K broke from the post-wedding motorcade (guess they were all going to rest @ Chuck's for a couple hours before the real party) and appeared in a convertible Aston Martin - he was driving - with balloons, "ju5t wed" on back, etc. Waving, giddy, and RAF chopper with Union Jack following them overhead. Now THAT was a cool moment and worth seeing.

perhaps we are lucky to have been born before project runway was even a gleam in it's producer's eye.

I am pretty sure i am lucky..
never having been tested by that trial of fire ..
I can maintain my illusions about my possibilities..

i too once had the look..
and i like to think i still have a little style :)

jo: politics. :) books. movies. good stories. recreational cooking and the new epicureanism. architecture. construction.

sorry, but i'm a function-over-form kind of guy. and while i appreciate a good thread count and solid stitching, i think most people's taste in fashion - and movies - and music - is putrid, and having tee vee shows shove it in my face is annoying, at best. so i have learned to ignore what they're wearing. and i've never seen american idol, either, for the same reasons.

that and, like, i'm a guy and stuff.

but i've long considered making my own clothes modeled on the few things i can find that i like. the things i like, though, well, most people think i look like a blue-collar scrub.

Nothing wrong with a blue collar scrub...although I'd like to see it reinterpreted by Yohji Yamamoto.

I confess to being a Masterpiece Theatre junkie. Period dress and British accents put me into a hypnotic stupor that erases most suffering and anxiety. Sort of like medical marijuana.

  21. redblack...

    hubby would agree with you...

though he has had to acknowledge that perhaps there is more function in some of that form than he had previously acknowledged:(

gasp.. i have him wearing chinos instead of jeans and cottons sweaters without collars and a short zip on the front :)

    each to his own poison.
i find as much function in my pursuit of fashion as i do in any art ;->

sometimes the most utilitarian objects .. including clothes.. are the most beautiful.

    oh ...
and may i add art and nature to books, movies, good stories, recreational cooking and the new epicureanism, architecture and construction ;->
