   Cold and flu season is here again. If you don't have a cold, I bet you know a handful of people who do. This is a rave to all who are staying home when they're sick, and trying to not spread the crud around. And, at the same time, it's a rant about all of those people who go out and about anyway, spreading whatever they have to whoever is in their path. For instance, walking through Safeway yesterday, a gentleman walking towards me sneezed and barely covered his mouth with his hand, let alone anything else..so his germs were sent over the other shoppers, and he was headed to the produce section...and I can bet he didn't sanitize that hand before he handled the produce.

   Thank you to all using common sense when they're ill. And a big raspberry to all of those who don't care.

   i would love to stay home from work when i am sick...unfortunately, this is not an option. my work does not have paid sick days, and i am paid hourly. my budget does not allow for me to lose those hours.

   saney...that truly sucks. So when everyone else comes down with what you have, there's no one to thank but the bosses. Make sure you breathe on them first :)

   He must have been related to the woman that was coughing - loud wet hacks - her way up and down the aisles when I was shopping :( I changed courses as quickly as possible.

   Please keep sick children home, too! What one child in a classroom has, especially below about 3rd grade level, all of the others will get. And their families. And their siblings' classrooms. And their families.

   Thankfully & Unfortunately everyone in my work area literally came down with a cold in the same day. So we're all sick and at work. If I had a fever, chills and body aches.... I'd stay home because I believe that's the diff between a cold and flu??? Not sure about that but sounds good to me. We use common sense as far as washing hands a lot, hand sanitizer, catch sneezes in a tissue and cough in the arm. It's not hard. As that Health lady said, "Even Elmo knows that"!

   On day 3 of staying home with flu. Laying about moaning and groaning. It really is hard to do what you know is best (staying home) when the "work ethic" says work, tough it out, etc. Thank goodness I have a good sub who reports the kids are doing fine.

   Knowing I could potentially infect about 400 folks helps keep me in bed where I belong (when not on the couch reading the blog of course :)

   Last year, I had one of those horrendous sounding coughs, and got many a dirty look while walking through Safeway to get the medication my doctor prescribed.

   ... turned out it was lung disease - not at all contagious in any way - but man did I ever get the stink-eye every time I left my house.

   Fortunately(?) I was much too sick to leave the house other than to go to the doctor. 3 months of bedrest in lieu of hospitalization. I was SO. BORED.

   I want to AGAIN say thank you thank you to the folks from the blog who gathered up DVDs for me to watch. You guys were, and are, the very definition of "neighbors."

    Aim, I have the same issue. Due to lung issues I cought all the time, and due to allergies I'm always blowing my nose and sneezing. Yet everyone thinks I've got swine flu or something else I'm infecting them with and moving away from me. So a friendly reminder that not everyone sneezing/coughing/etc. is sick with something contagious. However, whether sick or not, I agree that people need to be covering their mouth when sneezing.

    Son's allergies acted up just as we boarded a long flight this year and was sure to tell the flight attendant, but wanted to shout it to the whole plane..."it's just allergies, no worries!" so I totally get it.

    GHO, I was just at the airport in Minneapolis last week, and there was this woman wearing a surgical mask, presumably to protect her from illnesses. One of the few seats left (due to flight delays) was one right near her. I started coughing, and I thought the woman was going to fall over her own two feet trying to get away from me.
