I have a rather large wall clock that has one of those black plastic boxes on the back, that holds a battery, that runs the clock. Whole box needs to be replaced as it had a "meltdown".
Any suggestions on where I can take it?

GoGo, if you are adventurous in the least, you could probably replace it yourself. Bigger craft stores like Micheals has these plastic boxes. We have gutted retro electric clocks and placed a battery device with good success.
Locally I would suggest Russells in the junction as the first place to go. Celeste is their strongest advocate here on the blog. I havent' used them but I know they are nice folks and if they can't do it they will know where to send you.
You can make a clock out of damn near anything. Replacing older clock movements with these battery movements and a wide variety of hands is the work of minutes. There are even templates for word to create and print clock faces for craft projects.

Thanks, guys! I never even thought about doing it myself, might look into that. Then again, I might just go to Russell's. :)
