  2. I agree shopping local is ideal, but we are on a tighter budget this year and are planning to pick up a tree from IKEA tomorrow. On Sat/Sun IKEA will have moderate-sized (I would say they average 6-7 feet tall) Doug Firs for $19.99. If you bring the tree back to them for recycling on the first weekend of January, you'll get a $10 gift card back. We did this a few years ago and were super pleased with the tree we got. There is more info on their website.

  3. Got a note tonight that egreen landscaping on Delridge is selling trees again this year; we'll be adding them to the list on the Holidays page. They indicated they have trees starting at $25.

We always go to the nursery on 99 that sells under the chubby and tubby name. They have very "Charlie Brown" trees for 12.99 or better ones for 16.99. We got the 16.99 one and in the past they've never been as perfect as a Tony's tree or somewhere like that, but this year, I have to say it's one of the nicest trees I've had or seen.

McLendon's in White Center and other places too, is selling trees for 14.99 today, half their regular price.

Oh, McLendons also has LED lights on sale today. Can't remember the price but it was a significant markdown.

McLendon's has great deals on trees this morning. I was just there. Regretfully they did not have the tree that I wanted. I like space between the branches and there's were too full for me. I want my ornamenets to hang and light pass through. Seems that most people require something thicker; probably swept up in the "more is better" belief system. Not for me.
But still, good deals at McLendon's.

  8. Not in West Seattle, but not far--Herr Lumber in Burien (107 SW 160th) reliably carries a good selection of Charley Brown trees. They come in large ($15.98) and small (8-ish?).

  10. I have gone for many years to Alan Acres Tree Farm. It is in Stanwood, but we always stopped for breakfast first and the trees top out at about $35, regardess of size and are cheaper for sheared and douglas firs.

I had a great experience at West Seattle Produce. Beautiful trees, helpful staff and free same day delivery. They even put my stand on it for me, which was great as last year we suffered two tree crashes (we're definitely more computer geeks than mechanically inclined!)

  12. Go to Tony's Trees and support a family who lost their father/husband/brother - Tony passed away yesterday. They have beautiful trees, do wonderful tree flocking as well, and of course amazing & friendly service!

  13. Like RKB suggested: Tony's Tree's....I'll be getting a short one this year, like last year, and I'll happily be purchasing it from Tony's. They "give good tree", and the family could use some reassuring support right now. I hope a lot of people purchase their trees from Tony's (on 35th, one block south of the South West Library).

  14. thanks everyone! i ended up at mclendons and got a 9' noble for 42.00...for me that's a real bargain compared to what i've spent in recent years...i like cramming in the tallest tree i can handle..a hangover from childhood i guess...personally i like my tree with no decorations...just lights.
