Today Tammi was bringing her cat to the vet and teh carrier collapsed and the cat escaped. Tammi is distraught, having recently lost her husband, and now potentially her kids cat. She is emailing a picture to the blog, but if you see a cat anywhere in the vicinity (picture she showed me is white with orange tabby long hair), please call the West Seattle or the Jefferson Square Vet (206)932-3308. This is an indoor cat that is really freaked out at being suddenly exposed to the world. Hammerhead was called and was helpful to share her thoughts with Tammi.

Tammi, indoor cats generally hunker down someplace close by because they are confused and scared.
Missing Pet Partnership, MPP, can help you with a plan. Please contact them at (253) 529-3999. Their West Seattle Rep is Chris (she is wonderful). If you have to leave a message at this number, they will call you back as quickly as possible (they are all volunteers).
Here are some of their tips for finding a lost indoor cat
http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-lostcat.phpHere are the services they offer (some are free; the more complex services require a fee which supports MPP)
http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/seattle-lostpethelp.phpIn the meantime, if you haven't done so already:
1. try to scan the area as a cat would, i.e., at ground level (yep, crawling on your knees), look for places a cat could hide, squeeze into, etc.
2. put small amounts of food (and water)out in different locations, especially in the direction that your cat took off. Food will help keep her nearby.
3. We can loan you a humane trap. You'll want to be present whenever it is set out as traps should never been left unattended.
MPP has an excellent 'found' rate and they are compassionate/understand our feelings when a pet goes missing.
Please feel free to call us if you would like to chat and/or discuss more ideas...206-321-4729. We check our messages in the evening (once we get off to work).
Sending positive thoughts to you and your cat!

Great news, the kitty has been found and is now in the owner’s possession. My understanding is the many of the Prudential agents and staff at Jefferson square were involved in the search earlier today and one of them spotted the cat across the street a short time ago and called the owner to let her know. Fortunately her kids were nearby putting up flyers and were able to get the cat right away, so I'm sure everyone is very happy to be reunited! Glad there is such a happy ending to a very stressful day for this family.
From the Lost Pet section:
We found the cat!! One of our agents spotted it out the window of our office and two of us ran down and cornered him until his family came! They were still in the neighborhood looking for him! Sawyer is back with his family!!!

We will update our Facebook page to let everyone know he is safe and sound with his family! (yes, we made a poster and put him on F3's Facebook).
