Our home was built in the 1920's, and we'd like to have it retrofit for an earthquake. We don't have the time to do it ourselves. Does anyone have a referral for a contractor who is experienced in this type of work? Thank you.

We had A-FFIX do our retrofit last April. They were quick, professional and cleaned up when finished. We were very pleased.

Reviving this forum, as I'm also looking to do a retrofit. Any additional recommendations?

My husband works/sub contracts with a contractor who does this kind of work. Black Ball Construction (206) 779-3290 Jake Mead, Owner

We attended the free 'Project Impact' home retrofit classes at the Phinney Neigbhorhood Center; here's a link to more info: http://www.seattle.gov/emergency/prepare/personal/home.htm.
.
The people who teach the class are contractors that offer earthquake retrofit services, & they were quite knowledgeable & helpful about answering questions specific to our house.
.
We opted not to hire them, but rather managed the work ourselves. The information we gained from the class helped immensely with managing our project & it went very smoothly. I'd definitely recommend this route if saving money is a concern as it was in our case.Posted 9 months ago # -
Thanks! I am planning on going to one of the classes in September or October, but I have very little experience. I can tear down, but putting back together is a much smaller personal skill set :-) I think I'll probably end up hiring some help.
Any helpful hints out there, as well as names of contractors people have used and liked, please post!
