Not the best timing, but what to do . . .
We have found a wonderful dog in need of a new home at a shelter in SE Washington and have adopted her and can pick her up over the weekend. Yippee! Our beloved 16-year old Lab passed away early this year and we've been on a mission to find our Next Great Dog. So wouldn't you know The One shows up on our radar at a really inopportune time.
See, we have to leave on Monday evening for a long-planned family reunion back East. The shelter wouldn't allow her to stay, despite our having completed the adoption. (They need the room.) And we couldn't have waited on the adoption or she would have likely been gone by the time we got back. SO, we are in an unusual bind.
I was curious if anyone might want to take care of our new gal for a week while we're away? I won't have much first-hand info to give you about her, since unfortunately we won't have been able to spend a great deal of time with her before our departure. However, I CAN tell you that she is a friend to all dogs and cats, loves kids, and is a shepherd mix.
Please let us know if you would consider this rather unusual request. We would be eternally grateful! (And would, of course, pay for her food, etc. while we're away!)
