    Belvidere north of Admiral Way:

Approx. 10:30 a.m. 3/11/10, basement door forced open. Doesn't appear that anything was taken. I was home, objects block that door keeping it from opening without making noise. 911 called, awaiting police arrival to report.

Maddeningly, the report still has not been filed, not because I haven't tried. Twice today I've asked to file the report, first waiting for more than an hour with some concern that there might be someone holed up in the back of our basement, then again in the afternoon waiting three hours for an officer to come by.
    .
Since we have a lot going on, finding the comcast-standard four+ hour window of time to wait for someone to drop by to perform what is essentially an administrative task is really frustrating. It would be nice to efficiently get a report in without the kid around (over the phone, by an officer doing admin at the precinct, perhaps?), so I may have to go to the precinct, then request they come by if they have any need to see the place. Aaargh.

An officer drove by while I was ON THE PHONE with a 911 operator. I'm sure there were urgent matters to attend to, but is there no admin protocol for taking a non-urgent report? WE are told to report, report, report, and then are discouraged from doing so by the lack of personnel to attend to these more mundane tasks.

  12. Oh that has to be so terribly frustrating!!

No wonder folks are not bothering to report crime!

Too bad there's no way to call Capt. Kessler directly...

  13. that sounds really scary, glad that nothing physical was taken, though you probably lost some sense of security.

you sound mad, and I would be too, but I think I would be more furious ! you said that no-one would take your 'non-urgent' report, but seems like the police/ 911 operator should consider it URGENT if you aren't sure whether or not there's an intruder in your house !!

Lotsa 'shoulds' and not enough money to fix the problems. I went to the precinct and filed the report this morning. It only took about 12 minutes to find an officer to attend to the report filing. Very kind once the officer was found.

  15. That is so frustrating that you had to wait so long to make your report. My neighbor had their house prowled last week and three police cars showed up. The prowler did not make it inside but was seen looking in the window. The response was fast and the police were on top of it. I guess it just depends upon what else is going on at that time? Did you get any info from the police?
