twobottlesParticipantAnybody know what’s going on there? It’s apparently been closed for a couple of months now.

miwsParticipantDidn’t they have a change of ownership?
Although I don’t recall any mention of downtime during the transition.

miwsParticipantOkay, here’s the WSB article.
From that, it sounds like they were planning on a name change, and change of menu, but the fact that “next month” is referenced, tells me there was no interim shutdown planned.

WSBKeymasterNoticed this the last couple times we were in The Admiral District. Closed and padlocked. No idea how long it’s been – sadly, this is the first time someone has brought it up in any of our channels. – TR

JayDeeParticipantI think TR that your comment reflects something: imagine if Bakery Nouveau was closed for several weeks longer than they’d stated…(this is a hypothetical people…)

GinaParticipantThought they were taking the rainy season off. Sept-July 5th.

bsmommaParticipantWasn’t it being changed to Guadalajara? I could have sworn they were going to slowly incorporate/make the change? It’s been “abandoned” for ATLEAST a month, pretty sure longer. Looks like they sorta painted the front. Also noticed in the front where I assume the smoker is, someone just left there uniform. Shoes and all.

JanSParticipantspeaking of empty restaurants…Charlestown Street Cafe is not only ugly and perennially empty, it now has graffiti on the front of the building. Really adds to the ambiance of the neighborhood – not! These empty storefronts along the ave need to be taken care of by whoever owns them, even if sitting idle.

snaParticipantI think they started making changes late last year….then nothing. It’s been months since I’ve seen any activity there.

dhgParticipantThe City is a pain in the ass about so many things but somehow they pay little attention to abandoned property. I think there should be a special, nearly confiscatory, tax on properties that sit dead for so long. Get some people in there, get some life going, or sell it cheap to someone who will.

twobottlesParticipantSo over the last few months there have been encouraging signs – remodeling inside, a liquor license application for a “Milo’s Brickyard Grill”, a sample menu on the fence, a nice sign over the entrance – it even appeared that they might have been open for a few days (a folded up sandwich board in the courtyard says “Now Open”). Now, once again dark every night, sign over the entrance gone, and last weekend a notice from City Light for a pending disconnect for lack of payment.
Now, I know lots of restaurants go out of business in the first year but in the first week?
Anyone have any insight?
