sbreParticipantThis morning was the third time in as many weeks that you impatiently and illegally passed my school bus; in the past east-bound on Hudson in the 51st to 49th area and today climbing Admiral from the west (using the left-turn lane to do so between two school buses). Each time a female driver of smaller stature with dark (black?) hair alone in the car.
One of these times you are going to cause an accident, or worse!
The first time you did it 3 weeks ago I had just turned on the flashing yellow lights at the top of the bus to warn others to slow down and get ready to stop as children will be loading (or unloading), I could hear your engine rev as you passed to our left in the on-coming traffic lane.
What if a student was in a hurry to cross the street to catch the bus and bolted out in your path, are you prepared to spend years and/or the rest of your life in prison for a few seconds you would save?
Are you emotionally prepared to hit, hurt, maim or kill a child or other human being?!!!
I have stated on this blog before that I position a camera on the dash of my bus to catch anything that happens in front of us, and all three of your transgressions are now saved in a file on my computer.
Each clearly showing your license plate as you pass, on the on the first occasion the viewer can even tell you are holding a cell phone up to your right ear. And in the last two videos it is obvious that your car tabs expired on Jan. 31st of this year.
If you happen to read this, or if you happen to know the woman who drives this vehicle PLEASE. PLEASE, PLEASE (help her) stop being so impatient and wait for the school bus to do its thing.
The possible, horrible consequences are not worth the little bit of time you save.
And if you’re doing this around my bus three times in three weeks, how many other buses and situations are you plowing through and getting lucky with every day?!!!!

wakefloodParticipantHere’s hoping she or someone who knows her, gets this message. Sometimes you wonder what it’s gonna’ take for people to snap out of it. Let’s hope your sincere plea is enough.

KBearParticipantI hope you reported this to the police. I realize they are often dismissive of second-hand reports, when no officer has witnessed the violation, but they might be more interested when there’s photo documentation of a repeat offender with expired tabs.

PLSParticipantSeems odd that it was the same car in two very different places. What time were the incidents? I guess it makes sense if the Audi is coming from Beach Drive around Me-Kwa-Mooks park and headed to the Bridge, maybe? Goes Hudson/Fauntleroy sometimes, Admiral others? Either way definitely tell the police. Great to vent here but we can’t do anything other than get lucky that maybe a friend or family member sees it.

2 Much WhineParticipantsbre brings up a very real concern. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about a girl that I never met that was killed as a freshman in college at WWU. She got off the city bus and ran in front of it (just like you could do with school buses at the time – red lights flashed so it was safe to dash across the street back then). She was struck by a car and killed. It was such a tragic loss for someone that was just getting started in life and it was so unnecessary. Classical conditioning told her that it was safe to cross without looking. So sad. Now my kids have to listen to me retell this story endlessly so they don’t make the same mistake. Let’s hope this driver doesn’t run into a similar situation.

wakefloodParticipantHey whine, when did that happen at Western? I was there in the early 80’s…

csw2119ParticipantYou’ve got documentation, give it to the police. She is a threat to everyone on the road, especially the kids going to the bus. This woman needs to learn a very expen$ive lesson.

2 Much WhineParticipantWake, I think it was probably about October/November of 1980 just outside of Buchanan (Bucky) Towers. I have forgotten a heck of a lot of stuff that I learned in college but that single, tragic incident has influenced my behavior in one way or another for almost 35 years. Go Vikings!

wakefloodParticipantWell, now you’re bringing back the memory. I actually lived in Bucky Towers that year. (Um, a great deal of that year was a blur/fog…)

2 Much WhineParticipantI was going to say the same thing. . . . .

minionMemberI get this feeling I actually know the Audi driver.
