And Obama just won his second term.

omg is right!

Send him to Bush and Cheney
Posted 1 year ago # -
The world is a better place.
Posted 1 year ago # -
So...we can get our troop's asses outta the "Stans" now, right?
Posted 1 year ago # -
The only thing I worry about is who will take his place? Is there an even crazier taliban leader waiting in the wings?
Posted 1 year ago # -
He might be dead, but I'm not that gullible. They already buried him at sea? How convenient. The U.S. Government has lied to us so many times, I don't believe anything they say anymore. I hope he's gone yes. This maybe a ploy to boost our country's morale in a time when our economy is stubborn as a mule because good news stimulates our economy. I maybe off my rocker, but it's all too convenient. I really do hope its for real. Maybe a day from now it may sink in. The terror won't stop here as he's a martyr now. Someone else will continue to terror the U.S.A and its allies.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Jiggers, I wondered the same thing. The rationale for the sea burial is sound, but where is the evidence that he's actually dead? I read that a DNA sample was taken from his sister, but that raises more questions than it answers.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I understand that there are pictures...but I certainly don't need to see them. Why would I want to see the gore of someone shot in the head? I firmly believe that Barack Obama is not the kind of man to lie to us this way....and I'm usually cynical.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I want to see his death certificate now...lol
Posted 1 year ago # -
@Jiggers - "I want to see his death certificate now" - this really gave me a chuckle... thanks!

Here's a country/rock song by Daryl Worley that says it all.
"Have You Forgotten"
I hear people saying we don't need this war
But, I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing downThey say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friendHave you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown awayHave you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten? They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well, after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's rightHave you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And we vowed to get the one’s behind bin Laden
Have you forgotten?I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting forHave you forgotten all the people killed?
Yeah, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?[Thanks to Steve Risner for corrections]

"Shouldn't have gotten that iPhone"
- Bin Laden's last words
(Nor original to me)

I just think that while the wannabe's (insert your favorite name here) are worried about B. Obama's birth certificate, B. Obama is getting the work done. Kinda puts it all in perspective, doesn't it?

Can we leave the Middle East now?
Posted 1 year ago # -
jiggers, I think it would be folly to think that this ends any type of terrorism against the US...however, it's still a big deal, and will put a crimp in their style for a bit. No, I don't think we can leave the Middle East just yet.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Jiggers, how do we even know you're the real Jiggers and not just someone pretending to be him?
With the right skills and enough money, anyone can get an avatar of a Hawaiian beach and go around pretending to be you.
On second thought, no.
Keepin' it real, brah!

All I know is I don't feel any safer.
Posted 1 year ago # -
It's akin to cutting off the head of a snake. You cut off the head, the body will thrash around. But, not for long. And it's the easiest way to take it out. It may not ensure safety, but it sure as hell better be your first step.
Personally it's not about safety for me. If you're responsible for mass killings and are potentially planning more, you should be dead or in our custody - whatever's easiest.
Posted 1 year ago # -
bin Laden's body was buried at sea due to Islamic customs they said..
bin Laden was using his wife as a shield and was also killed in the fighting...
Posted 1 year ago # -
Jiggers, that's interesting because I just read a report stating that bin Laden's wife identified him at the scene. That would suggest that she was killed afterward...
The article was about the identification issue. As I suspected, the CIA did a DNA comparison to positively identify him. I don't really suspect foul play here, but on the other hand, any time the CIA is involved I tend to wonder.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I read he had 7 wives, not just one.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I hate to think we'd take his wife's word on body ID...
Posted 1 year ago # -
the one fact that has been overlooked here is Pakistan's participation in this raid..
this is a good thing.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I thought I heard that they knew nothing about it and were not involved in the raid. Did I miss something?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Another reason that they may have rid his body quickly is because there was a very huge cash reward in finding bin Laden. It would be like the U.S. not wanting to have to pay anyone that cash reward. Prisoners at GITMO may have had the smoking gun that lead them to him. Of course, the government isn't going to pay them that huge cash reward. Theories abound and too many questions to ask. Reports a a few years ago Benazir Bhutto claimed bin Laden was dead but no body was recovered. Maybe she would like to recant her story about bin Laden. I like kool aid, but its too tart right now.
Posted 1 year ago # -
jiggers, Benazir Bhutto is no longer among the living. She can't recant anything.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Forgot about that she was assassinated.
Posted 1 year ago # -
First off "GO NAVY" (retired squid here) As for the smoking gun I do say the navy has it safely back aboard ship. Let the conspiracy begain even when the truth is out someone someplace will still say it never happen kennedy, the moon landing need I say more no. Is there pictures of him with a bullet hole in his head oh yea, will they ever release them? Sure its just takes time 50yrs sometimes sooner. The war on terror may never end the thing is one less bad guy is gone flushed out to sea like the garbage he was (can't say the other that gets flushed). Pakistan in on this now that is the real question look out when they find out who was involved in hiding him could they be high officials in the pakistan gov or military.....? Hmmmm
Posted 1 year ago # -
It is the same government saying we landed on the moon...chuckle..
Posted 1 year ago # -
If it were really just fabrication they would have waited until...say, August/September of 2012 to release the news. Just in time for the election!
Posted 1 year ago # -
jiggers..
my brother posted a pic of Osama with bulletholes in his head on facebook today that he got from somewhere.
i didn't care enough to pay attention..EDIT!!!!!
the photo supposedly by redding news is a fakehoffanimal..
you are right.
i got it wrong.wishful thinking?
Posted 1 year ago # -
you're not entirely wrong, jo. the thing that has been overlooked for 30 years is pakistan's participation in stopping terrorism and violent fundamentalists - even when we covertly funnel billions of dollars to the ISI.
once again, they were of no help, and we should have stopped calling them an ally long time ago.
Posted 1 year ago # -
redblack..
i was dead wrong on this one..
the Pakistani govt was no help at all..though they didn't object after the fact which was good..
there were some tense moments for the US military as they scrambled for their jets. The US didn't let Pakistan know what they were about to do because they rightfully feared leaks in the Pakistan govt...
Someone in Pakistan's intelligence community definately knew Osama was there.
You don't build a secured compound close to military bases anywhere without that country's security knowing you are there.it was wishful thinking on my part that Pakistan's govt was cooperative in this endeavor.
that said.. Pakistan has taken those who were still in the compound into custody.
it remains to be seen what will happen there.Posted 1 year ago # -
The government is wondering if they should show us bin Ladens pictures. They think by showing us his picture, it would disrupt your little happy place.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Not sure if this question has been asked...so...If we finally received credible intelligence and took decisive action the way we did (with the ultimate finality and no hostages) in this case - why can't we do this in all known terrorist cases with piles of evidence? Why have any long drawn out trials been conducted in the past for these known terrorists (including our domestic groups like the McVey's and others)?
I hope this action (no matter how long it took) sends the message...You commit an a terrorist action (even with intent)...we will find you...you and your peers get dead...justice served.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Photos of Saddam Hussein's sons, after being killed, were released. Pictures of Osama should be released too.
But let's face it, if there was really a conspiracy...then the photos could be photoshop'd as well. Some things just can't be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Posted 1 year ago # -
"But let's face it, if there was really a conspiracy...then the photos could be photoshop'd as well."
That's what makes me think releasing the photos is a bad idea. It won't satisfy the conspiracy theorists, but it may incite further violence. Satisfying people's morbid curiosity is not a good enough reason. We don't need to display his corpse in public (or a photograph of it) like it's some kind of trophy. That's what terrorists would do.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Hahaha..they said he went down fighting, but he wasn't armed? The government sounds confused. How many of you still believe what the U.S. government says anymore?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Depends on what they are saying, and who is saying it, Jiggers.
Posted 1 year ago # -
jiggers..
what does it matter what story you believe?
what is done is done.Posted 1 year ago # -
Jig the jig is up no pun intended lets just say its real. As for those who want to debate this as a conspiracy theory they too will be disappointed when they do release photos. As for going down unarmed wasn't very smart sleeping with out a weapon of his choosing next to him oh well his loss now he is at the bottom of the sea and the crabs won't even touch his worthless corpse......
Posted 1 year ago # -
The official story will no doubt continue to evolve as it already has started to. The human shield version was revised in the first 24 hours.
I don't have a conspiracy theory per se, as much as I have a lot of skepticism about official versions (thanks Bush & Co).
It really doesn't much matter at this point if bin Laden is dead beneath the deep blue Arabian sea, or alive and 30 stories below the Pentagon in the mother of all interrogation rooms. What I'm certain of, after the big show on Sunday and Monday, is Mr. bin Laden will not be back for an encore. We got him dead or alive alright, just not sure which.
IMHO, if there's any "conspiracy" or misinformation it's around him having been taken alive so that useful intelligence could be extracted from him. And if they managed that, they'd have every reason in the world to make him officially dead, and make the body conveniently unavailable.
Posted 1 year ago # -
regarding the release of photos of his corpse: why bother?
whoever isn't traumatized or enraged by the photos won't believe they're real.
i say the administration should show whatever evidence it has to congress and then classify it. the ghouls, the conspiracy nuts, the MSM, and the punditocracy will just have to suffer - preferably in silence.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I'm tired of our government twisting details around and around and around changing its story. I can't watch the news anymore. Too much kaka.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Yeah, releasing the birth certificate sure shut the conspiracy theorists up <eyes rolling>. KBear, you have it absolutely right. Facts don't matter. If Obama has released the photos, not only would the tin-foil-hatters start shrilling that it's PhotoShopped (probably by the president himself), but they'd all have some reason why releasing them was wrong/evil/terrorist-appeasing/Muslim... choose your favorite wingnut phrase.
Posted 1 year ago # -
aaaand once again, the president makes the right call.
no photo release.
i don't think it's just about inflaming the islamic world, though. personally, i don't give a rat's ass about bin laden or his memory or his followers or their feelings. according to the evidence we, the people, have access to, he was an accessory to mass murder and a scum bag. and even if all of islam is inflamed by his death, well, frankly, screw them.
but i doubt they are. in fact, i know that they're not.
in my opinion, the president is showing the restraint and good sense that the bush administration (abu ghraib, saddam hussein's sons, etc.) never possessed, let alone demonstrated. (don't get me started on moronic danish newspaper editors.)
call me naive if you will, conspiracy theorists, but i believe the administration when they say bin laden's dead. military officials and some members of congress have also testified to the veracity of the evidence. not that i don't think they're beyond lying, mind you.
but what's the point of releasing the photos to the public? no matter who you believe, i think the president is being honest when he says that this is more about not brandishing trophies and acting like ghoulish spectators. at long last, do we have left no sense of decency?
and closure over 9/11 be damned. the best thing we can do to honor the memory of the victims is to prosecute the criminals who perpetrated the act. if we call for their heads without using some kind of fair justice system - with or without the 8 x 10 glossy color photos with the writin' on the back - we're no better than the perpetrators.
my personal conspiracy theory is that the furor over the photographic proof is all about network ratings, and is being drummed up by people in the media.

redblack...
"my personal conspiracy theory is that the furor over the photographic proof is all about network ratings, and is being drummed up by people in the media."
that's a conspiracy theory i can sign off on.
Posted 1 year ago # -
It was the mature decision. The easy way out would have been to release the phots but as previously mentioned it would have accomplished nothing. The nutso's will alway find some shred on which to hang their conspiratorial hats. It's a refreshing change from our previous administration's rah-rah bs.
