This will be our first Christmas in West Seattle and we need some advice on where to get a tree. We want to get it this weekend, any suggestions?

I have gone to West Seattle Nursery on California Ave. for a number of years. They always have a nice selection and are cooperative. I believe they still do free delivery; but if you want it this weekend you may have to bring it home yourself.

It won't tell you where's "Best" but we will have a full list on the Holidays page as soon as we get out and about today.
http://westseattleblog.com/westseattleholidays(The Thanksgiving coffee/food/groceries info will be updated there shortly too BTW.)
By Saturday everybody should be up and running - the question for us is always whether any "surprise" lot operators turn up, along Harbor Ave or in supermarket parking lots. New this year: West Seattle Produce should have trees - apparently the cold snap caused some problems with delivery but they were expecting to have them any time now.

I have two recommendations for you.
1. Holy Rosary Tree Lot, the money raised goes to Charity. Here is their website.
http://treelot.holyrosaryws.org/2. Tony's on 35th and Barton (where you turn to go to Westwood Village. Always fresh trees.
Other than that I know there are more but these are what come to mind.

I bought mine at Bartell's five years ago. Shake it out, plug it in, ready to go!

Saw Tony's is getting trees in today.
The past couple years we've gone to West Seattle Nursery. Great selection, reasonable prices.

The $5 Charlie Brown tree at Chubby & Tubby's!!! Oh wait.....

Jissy, some of the familiar faces from the Chubby and Tubby stores get together and sell trees and with an agreement from C&T, they are permitted to call them Chubby and Tubby Christmas Trees. Last year it was way up on Aurora... and I was tempted to go just for old time's sake. But then good sense get kicked in. I hate when that happens.

Home Depot has great tree, it's not the photo op that going to a tree farm is, BUT they are nice trees, good prices and there are so many great Christmas/Holiday activities coming up in West Seattle - like tree lighting ceremonies, Christmas Ships, Menasche lights..... lots of opportunities for great scrapbook pix!!

I used to buy TWO Chubby & Tubby trees and duct tape them together. Now, we're Holy Rosary buyers when we don't go cut our own. The kids' Thank You notes that come with the purchase of a tree makes me keep coming back to them.

West Seattle Nursery has a selection of live-in-the-pot trees. We stick 'em in the ground afterwards; I love them!

There are many great places to get quality trees in WS but we get ours from Holy Rosary. They have really beautiful and fresh trees and the money helps charities.

Re: Holy Rosary - please note that they are in a new spot this season, starting Saturday. I was over at the school last week talking to a couple of administrators for a story that will likely finally appear tomorrow. They open Saturday. It'll be in the parking lot just south of the school playground, reachable from 41st and Dakota.

Another vote for Holy Rosary. The trees are always fresh and last a long time (through New Year's). I also feel for all of the parent and student volunteers and think it's a great character building event! We always bring a treat along for them, especially now that this year they won't be right behind Safeway and won't have access to quick snacks and warm ups. It gets pretty cold out there! Good Luck!

I second Gina and angelescrest: buy fake, or buy live & plant afterward. The cutting of millions of trees every year for temporary decoration is an unsustainable practice.
