Best dog grooming?

I have 4 smaller dogs, each of whom need to be groomed, and I am looking for a decent place to take them -- the place I have been taking them has fallen off in the quality recently. There are 3 shih tzus and a peke mix. One of the tzus has an attitude problem, so somewhere thats good with cranky old dogs would also be great! I'm looking to spend about 40 bucks a dog.

Any suggestions? I have been thinking about the wash dog because the people I have delt with there are always so nice, but I am open to reccomendations!

  2. I have clients who take their dogs to both Muttley's and Stella Ruffington's. Both these places are well loved and do good work. And both owned by incredible animal people who love their work.

  3. You can try out The Wash Dog for a 15% discount. Just say you saw their discount ad on the web and they'll deduct 15% from your total bill.

I've been going to Stella Ruffingtons and have been pretty happy. Occasionally I go to Muttley Crew Cuts, but they're a little more expensive and the new location is a pain for parking. Both are over $40. You might try Petco. I think they're a little cheaper.

We take our Yorkie-Poo to Petco. He has a skin issue and so he needs extra care and special attention. Kashmera there is great. She always takes really good care of him and he always looks and feels so much better after he gets his hair cut.

  8. Stella Ruffington's is where my doggies go, and they are great there. I recommend them highly!

  9. For you Stella's and Muttley's customers, how long is the wait for an appointment? I called Stella's and they offered me a date FIVE WEEKS OUT. That's insane. Is Muttley's any different? I'd rather not go "off the peninsula" for a good cut, but I really don't plan that far ahead. A week or two is about it.

  10. I take my Westies to Cherie's (Belvidere area) and have been very happy. She usually has appointments within a week or so. She has lots of small dogs herself.

  11. We take our Yorkie to Canine Casa. We feel that they do a great job and our Yorkie seems to agree. He hates going, but once he comes out afterwards, he prances all around to show off his new hair cut.

My pup has been going to see Chashmere at Petco for a few years. We love her! I am disappointed that there seems no longer to be coupons for grooming. We paid $50 for each time we got the works.
BTW, The Wash Dog is under new ownership; same groomer, but new and friendly (as was the last) owner.

Yes, Cashmere at Petco is great with Fluffy and Tyson, (a maltese and bishon) Once she asked if I wanted them to have "Blueberry facials"!! How could I resist? They did smell yummy ; )

I am a huge fan of Muttley's. I used to go to Stella's but my dogs got ear infections after they got groomed one too many times. Also, their faces always seemed dirty but their bodies were well groomed, after they'd leave an appointment. They are Bichons and can be challenging to groom well but Muttley's does a fabulous job!

I did not have a good experience at Muttley Crew. They gave my dog an awful cut, (they clearly were in a hurry they had so many dogs to groom) and missed several spots. And they just raised their prices to $55. For that kind of money I expect a top notch grooming. They also have a prominent sign at the counter "generous tipping encouraged". Tacky.
