MRS.SRParticipantLast Saturday (2/23) I was driving west on Thistle towards California. Coming towards me (traveling east on Thistle) was a bright red, fairly glossy EL CAMINO. The passenger was waving a black handgun in the air and ACTUALLY POINTED IT AT A DOG WALKER.
I was frozen, didnt get a license plate # (kicking myself) realized that I do not respond well in a crisis. I called the police, however did not have alot of information. This is super close to where we live and I am always on the lookout for this car. It was very scary. Keep your eyes open!

wakefloodParticipantDidn’t see it. Hope it was someone pranking with a toy gun. Some of those things look very real.

me on 28th Ave SWParticipantI saw this car on Wednesday afternoon in the same neighborhood. The car definitely stands out and the driver is male. Will keep an eye out.

westwood neighborMemberI believe this car parks outside a home a couple of blocks from me. Shiny red truck with white stripe?

WSratsinacageMemberIf you know who this is, it might be a good idea to have the police visit with them to talk about his allegedly illegal acts.

westwood neighborMemberDon’t know the person at all but there is a very similar 70’s era El Camino/Ranchero type truck with a very glossy paint job that lives in the neighborhood. if you were to walk south on 36th SW East of Barton you may see it and decide if it is the same truck.
Please feel free to delete if this violates any rules.

JKBParticipantA gun-safety measure I wouldn’t mind seeing is to require real guns to be black/gray/wood, and require toy guns to be bright neon colors. Confusion between the two is never a good thing.

WSBKeymasterOne point in the OP’s post reminds me of something that was noted by Community Police Team Officer Jon Kiehn at the last West Seattle Block Watch Captains’ Network meeting – If you see a vehicle engaged in suspicious activity (or obviously dangerous/illegal) – FIRST thing to train your eyes on is the plate. Don’t even worry about memorizing the color/type – get that plate! Unless it’s a stolen vehicle, officers can use the plate to trace the vehicle and its owner. Obviously the other details help too, but in order of importance, for police, it’s the plate, he said. – TR

shed22ParticipantJKB, perhaps a better solution would be to require real guns to be bright neon colors.

JanSParticipantshed22…maybe a bright pink or orange….wonder if the “militia” would like that? lol

IrukandjiParticipantSpotted a candy apple red El Camino, oversized wheels and tires heading east on Hinds at 44th this afternoon about 3:20. We were going crosswise, so I didn’t get a look at driver or plate.
