A big thank you to Susan for all her help in spotting him and assisting in bringing him home. The people of West Seattle are amazing and I am grateful to live in a community like ours. Thank you to the West Seattle Blog for promptly posting the information.

Thanks for sharing the great news! Give him extra ear scratches from the Katskys. Two of them grew up with a glab and firmly believe big goofy dogs are the best.

Curious how far did he get when he was found?

Yay!! I adore greyhounds. I love all dogs but greyhounds melt my heart a little more. :-D

Many things in this world are exaggerated, but the greyhound's reputation for speed is not one of them.
I once observed a guy playing "fetch" with his greyhound at Westcrest Park. You'd think a good ol' game of fetch would be especially fun if a greyhound was involved, wouldn't you? —Wrong.
Every time the guy flung the ball, the dog would take off like a shot and be at the other end of the park twiddling his paws before it even touched down. The poor pup always had to scramble back a good twenty feet or so, too, because, in his greyhound-ly enthusiasm, he'd overshoot the mark.
You're lucky Barkley wasn't in a hurry to leave town, k. Otherwise he could've been kickin' it on the beach at Cabo by now.

K, I'm so glad Barkley is home. I am a greyhound owner as well, and only too aware of the extra dangers involved when a greyhound gets loose. Most of them are innocent of the dangers of civilian life (traffic, etc.), they cannot be caught, and most have been stringently trained NOT to come when called. A loose greyhound is often a dead one. Watching a greyhound run is indeed a thing of beauty - but not if you're running behind with an empty collar and leash in your hand!
It would be great if we could form a greyhound gang for playgroups. I used to attend one in Snohomish, but it disbanded. Having one in West Seattle would be awesome!

Clark5080- he was about 2 miles from our place when he was found and appeared to have stayed in that area all night.
