Bank of America Admiral Way Lobby

  1. So.... this morning I stopped at the BOA branch on Admiral Way. Put in my card to activate the door to get in only to find the ATM was out of order.... but wait.... there's more.... to leave the building you have to push the little button to unlatch the door - only it didn't work. Luckily I brought my cellphone because there is no emergency latch, emergency phone, emergency magic button. I called the phone number on the door and they asked me what the address of the bank is - which is not listed in that area. The security person on the phone said they would call the police to let me out and call someone from the branch to come over.

Thankfully some kind, but probably very confused man came to use the cash machine this morning and was able to open the door from the outside so I could get out! I thanked him profusely though he probably didn't really understand what I was saying since it was 6:20 A.M. (and I'd been locked in for nearly 20 minutes), though he did understand when I told him the atm machine wasn't working. (neither police or bank employee had arrived yet)

I stopped back in the bank during regular hours today to tell them about it. They hadn't heard someone had been locked in and the manager told me it had happened to him recently and they still hadn't sent anyone out to fix the door. So I am sharing this so you know - don't go in there unless it's regular business hours!!

Loads of fun for a closterphobic person!!

  3. I'm sorry you had that experience, Pam, but I have to say that this reminded me of that Friends episode when Chandler gets stuck in the ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre.

  6. Charge them a fee!

  7. LOL, austin!

But, I must say, not merely *a* fee......

Fee for the inconvenience of ATM being out of order.

Fee for the inconvenience of door latch not working.

Fee for the inconvenience of having to remove cell phone from purse/pocket. (Plus reimbursement for minutes used.)

Fee for the inconvenience of having to put cell back into purse/pocket.

    Fee for claustrophobia inducement.

    Fee for waiting.

    Fee for thanking "rescuer".

Fee for having to call bank to report situation.

If anyone else wants to add for fee, go ahead! ;)

It's sad that these things have to happen in the first place but for it to be a known issue and have the corporation/bank not have it resolved by now is insane. They are just opening themseleves up to upsetting their customers, bad press, and potential lawsuits.

What alarms me, is the bank knew there was a problem and it hadn't been fixed. That is crazy.
