JoBParticipantbefore you ask, they do have a very good merlot on the menu…
and can make a cocktail that delights without alcohol
and the view is one of the best on Alki … if only the bus didn’t periodically disrupt it
but none of that matters..
because the food and drinks are outstanding enough to bring you back time and time again. really.
We 4 tried the mussels in curry sauce, tuna tartare, streak medallions with truffle fries, bread and 2 OMG spreads, calamari, creme brule, cheese cake and 6 different cocktails and sake…
and there wasn’t a single dish that any one of us wouldn’t have ordered again…
i suppose the menu could be a little intimidating.
the chef does accurately describe menu items.. but the wait staff was able to not only answer our questions but enlighten us along the way…
I am too full to go back again tonight.. the samll plates aren’t that small…
but if someone called and asked me to meet them there before closing it would still be tough to say no. it really was that good.
This was one of the best opening weekend experiences our crew of 4 has had to date..
and maybe a new west seattle favorite…

charlabobParticipantIs it possible to leave the review and delete all responses? JoB’s review is eloquent and deserved by Bada Bing…if attacks return, then the thread can be deleted.
Otherwise, casual readers will only remember the controversy: “oh my g-d they won’t serve merlot” (on the first page) and this. And that really isn’t fair.
Just an idea.

WSBKeymasterDigression (unrelated to restaurant) deleted. The review remains.
Side note: Apparently our “report this post” function is malfunctioning. To report spam/(potentially) rulebreaking posts, please e-mail editor@westseattleblog.com TFN. Thanks and sorry!

miwsParticipantI agree that the review stay, if possible/practical.
But, personally, I’d like Rags to see these replies.
I’m going to C&P Jo’s OP, and e-mail it to her in case she needs to start a new thread, and doesn’t see this before deletion.

ETA: I see the TR deleted the pertinent OT posts, and left the OP up.

WSBKeymasterI have no way of knowing whether the OP has already been back or won’t be back for days, so it’s all gone, sorry. If anyone wants me to mail them their original response so they can save it for posterity, e-mail me and I’ll fish it out of the trash can.

if you are going to remove the irrelevant comments that included my response to them,
would you please remove all reference to the controversy so that the review can stand on it’s own?
Bada does not deserve to be buried under the tar and feathers of even the specter of a removed controversy that had nothing to do with their business.
we had a delightful meal there.

billmaysMemberI love this place. I just had happy hour yesterday after brunch and just love the bar. Michelle is awesome.
I’m glad to see moderators take this thread back because this is now my third visit and could not be more happy.
The ramen is outstanding and the oysters are super fresh.
Great addition to Alki. Can’t wait to go back..
Ask for John, the chef. Very friendly and talented

shed22ParticipantI look forward to visiting Bada. Does anyone have information on their happy hour? Days/hours? Does it include food and drink? I could not find this information on their website and they have not been added to the restaurants section of WSB yet. Thank you.

JanSParticipanthi, there. I believe their HH starts at 2pm.
BADA BISTRO ADDS HAPPY HOUR: One week after opening, the new Bada Bistro in the former Beachside Café/Alki Bakery space at 61st/Alki SW added happy hour as of today, 2-6 pm daily, per co-owner Sharon Bang. Lunch and brunch? Not yet, she says, but soon.
according to the website it looks like they are open for lunch, too. And brunch at 10AM on weekends.
I couldn’t find the HH menu, though..

shed22ParticipantThanks, Jan! Guess I need to go to get the details. Nothing wrong with that!

shed22ParticipantI had a pleasant experience at Bada. For happy hour they have a sizable offering of dishes from the dinner menu (pared down) and a small but interesting selection of happy hour drinks. I enjoyed the flavors and thoughtfulness put into both food and drink. I had the chicken satay ($5) and Bada ramen ($6) paired with an Olympic Pear and Soju Squeeze, each $6. It all was a delightful combination of flavors and textures. The view is spectacular and, if rumor’s true, Metro will be shifting its bus stop location to prevent obstruction during restaurant hours. The “bay” will be removed, as well. The restaurant will be installing a larger awning to shelter waiting riders and replacing the scratched up glass. Sounds like they are planning to expand to an outdoor patio area in that space. Good for them! I’ll be back.
