Avalon Owners Please Read

  1. Could the owners of Avalon please contact the Groupon people and others to let them know you are no longer in business. I found another deal online and Groupon has no idea you are closed. Hate see people buy things online when business is closed.

  2. They were on Tippr the other day too, and I had to let them know. The Tipper rep told me that they had just found out and were cancelling the sale and would refund $ to anyone who bought. So they'll get the $ back, but still a hassle. We even had a gift certificate from them that they donated for our church auction last weekend - when I heard them offer it from the podium I had to scream out that they had closed down. News to them, since they had picked it up just days before.

  3. I had a Amazon local deal and just emailed them that they had closed and Amazon gave me my money back right away. It was weird, they were advertising reservations for Valentine's day up until the day before they closed.

Jiggers - they care (we hope!) because they are decent folks who don't want to inconvenience others.

  7. A different deal company (we won't speak their name because they are all bad for small businesses, as discussed in other threads) sent one a couple days ago, also post-closure, and the person who wrote us about that also called the company to tell them. These "deal" companies have squeezed so much money out of small businesses for so little promotion, I am shocked they don't make one final courtesy check with the business before they send out e-mail. Yeah, you're seldom (hopefully seldom) going to stumble onto an unannounced closure, but if you really think you're about to deliver a truckload of customers onto your client, you and they should have one last quick check-in IMO. - Tracy

Good point Tracy. Any business should do one last check before hitting the "send" button to thousands of folks.

I actually went there 2x per suggestion of WSB including the owner/with disclosure. I was so disappointed in owner big-time, service people were great yet 'promises made 'were not met by owner I am not surprised. Its too bad and relative. Its hard to go out of business and cover all the network media, advertising and all that. Its tough enough to loose your business and keep your mind. :)

  11. We're not in the business of making restaurant recommendations, aside from once in a very very rare while chiming in about a personal favorite (and I have to say that unfortunately we never made it to Avalon so there wasn't anything we personally could have ever said about its food/drink/service), so I hope that post'er means WSB Forum members, and not an implication of any suggestion by WSB management. Just for clarification. - TR
