   I have a 1998 A8 Audi that needs work. I really need a good mechanic as I cannot continue to afford the dealer prices.....aughh.. Anyone know a mechanic in West Seattle or close that can handle this beast?

   if BugMasters is still in business, those are your guys. They specialize in VWs and Audis. Their # is still listed as 937-8474 on the web, but it's been while since I have heard anything about them, so I don't know if they're still in business.

   thanks for the lead on BugMasters. One guy has been in the hospital but it appears they are still doing some business. I will see if they can handle an A8. apparently it is different than the 4/6

   Bugmasters totally ripped me off. Several years ago took in an actual VW bug. Easiest car in the world to work on. Needed a few things done. They had it for several days, and charged me hundreds of dollars. When they finally told me it was ready and I was paying the bill, I asked them to explain everything they'd done. "Oh, we just attached the muffler. We couldn't get to the other stuff." A $50 dollar muffler and a couple of clamps. Hundreds of dollars and three days. God knows what they'd charge today. It was total BS.

   And yes I told them so and that I'd never be back, and would be happy to share my experience. They didn't care. They had a line of cars waiting that were more important than an old bug.

   Sorry JenV. They may have been good guys to you, but not to their customers.

   lwnaismith, have you called Hans VW on 35th? Works on everything German.

   I have heard very good things about Absolute German, they are located kind of between Boulevard Park/South Park area where Des Moines Mem Dr and Hwy 99 meet up(the #132 bus goes by there). http://absolutegerman.com/
   A friend with an Audi recommended them.

    thanks for the updates. The Bugmaster guy did call me back but they don't have a shop and he thought he could fix the problem in my driveway. that was kind of a warning sign to me as other guys have said it takes special tools so even if they work on audi's not all do a8's.. I will call Hans VW and talk to them and also cal Absolute German.
