Are you missing a black cat near(ish) Roxbury & 10th?

  1. I had the very very sad experience today of witnessing a cat get hit by a car. I pulled over and my husband and I gathered kitty up and took him directly to Five Corners Emergency Animal Hospital in Burien.

We held him and comforted him, and got him to a place where they could treat him, but he was too badly injured and didn't make it.

I am so sorry. I did everything I could do, and he was just too badly injured.

Please know your kitty was held and comforted and cuddled, and didn't die alone on the side of the road.

I am pretty certain it was a male cat. He was solid black with no white markings at all. Fairly thick fur, but not long, and his tail appeared slightly short for his body. He had a prominent nose, pointy face, and very yellow eyes. He was an adult cat, likely over 2 years old. He was clearly loved, as his teeth were clean and his claws were recently trimmed.

Again, I'm so sorry. I hope that knowing what happened is more comforting than being afraid at what could have happened. And I hope it's some comfort that he wasn't alone.

If you want to talk to me directly, if it would hep in any way, please email me. aimgrrrl at gmail dot com.

Not my cat, but I'm glad there are people in the world like you.

  3. I hate to ask but was he fixed. Might have noticed an eartip? I hate to crude. I have done a ton of trapping on 11th SW by the park. Have trapped a lot of cats in that area. That is not to far from the general area.

  4. Hammerhead - yes he was fixed, no ear tip.
He also had recently-trimmed front claws and clean teeth. His teeth were long enough that he's over 2, and probably closer to the 5-8 range, so they must have been cleaned by a vet at some point. He was 100% NOT feral, as he allowed me to approach and pick him up, and my husband to cuddle him and scritch his ears all the way to the hospital. He's definitely somebody's cat.

tanyar23, thank you. My heart was absolutely broken when they told us he didn't make it. He was a sweet cat, and I loved him for the few minutes I was part of his life, if that makes sense.

Honestly, I can't imagine NOT doing everything I could. He was a living creature, and he was injured. How could anyone not stop and help? And yet, dozens didn't. :-(

I just hope I can find his people so they won't wonder.

Aim, thank you for going out of your way for this poor little guy. Having a cat, if (god forbid) anything ever happened to him, and I couldn't be there, I desperately hope someone else would care for him as much as you did for the other cat. Thank you again.

Thank you, AIM -- you and your husband are special people. I wish this kind of caring was more ordinary. But it isn't. The Katksys thank you too.

  8. Thanks, all, for the kudos. It makes me sad that helping is so uncommon, you know?

Anyway, bumping in hopes that his people have started looking for him by now. I know that a lot of outdoor kitties can disappear for a few days before anyone fully realizes.

thanks for being there for this kitty

sadly too, many are losing their homes and leaving them behind. I have an adorable kitty showing up at my door almost regularly now. He actually comes and was just all over me yesterday to scratch and love him up, motoring all the while.

Also watching on a kitty that supposedly made a break from their home, tho no owner has come around looking. That one is still too scared to come out from under the car, so me & a neighbor is leaving food out for it.

That brings the total of kitties being tending to in our little area to about 10+/- A few have "owners", most have made this area "home", a few we don't see as regularly as we use to, some we don't see anymore and those are the ones we worry about ...
