Selling my lovely G5 17" iMac.

    Apple iMac 17" G5

Fresh install of Mac OS X, comes with original box and install disks.

    ~The Specs~
*2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
    *1 GB SDRAM
    *160 GB Hard Drive

Fast enough for all your needs, I've used this for graphic design and audio mixing and it's fast enough to tackle those hard projects.

Well cared for and everything works fantastic. This computer has tirelessly served me for many years, but time for a new home.

Comes with mighty mouse, keyboard and apple remote.

I have anApple Wireless Mouse that'd I'd throw in for an additional $40.00.

    Cash or Cashiers Check please.

  2. What are you asking for it?

  3. Fred: Sorry to be pedantic, but Apple didn't make a G5 iMac with an Intel processor. In fact, the G5 name refers to the last in a series of PowerPC chips.

If your iMac has a Core 2 Duo processor, then my guess is that it was among the last group of "Merom" 17" iMacs that Apple released from late 2006 to summer 2007.

You might also want to let folks know which version of OS X is currently installed.

Oh yes, I shouldn't post so late. Yes it is not a G5, but the version after that.

It has OS X Tiger installed, I wanted to erase all information on it and give it a fresh start. I used the boot disks that came with the computer.

    I'm asking $300.

  6. FYI:
early 2006 will take 2g ram (2 slots I think)and late will take 3g (2 slots but an artificial limit on 3g)

Hard drive is easy to upgrade too and these will run snow leopard which you can still buy for $28.00 on craig's list and between 35 and 50 on amazon.

These units with 10.6.x installed desperately want more ram than the 2 or 3g that you can fit in them, but for generic browsing and media source consumption work they do fine. This model may not support open GL 2 if it has the gma950 video chipset.

300 is a fair price for this setup if you need a Mac. No word yet on whether it will work with 10.7 (Lion)

  7. The 2.0 GHz processor was only available in the 17" iMac in the late 2006 model. That Core 2 Duo Intel processor has 64-bit architecture so it should be able to run 10.7 Lion (though an upgrade to Snow Leopard is a pre-requisite).

  9. velo: Again, Fred's iMac has a 2.0GHz processor. So here is the correct link with the specs:
