Just found out Im pregnant....15 years after my first and only! I went the natural route the first time with a midwife. Not opposed to the midwife thing again, but definately opposed to the natural birth! Please recommend west seattle or burien doctors that deliver @ swedish. Please tell me about your experience with them and their office locations. Phone #s are always helpful too. Thanks so much!

I don't have a recommendation for West Seattle or Burien but I loved Dr. Bohmke. She is on First Hill at Swedish. 206-386-3400

My physician at Swedish West Seattle also does obstetrics. I chose her partly because I hope to have a child someday (even though I'm approaching "advanced maternal age", ugh!) Her name is Dobrina Okorn, and I *love* her. Here's a link (the URL was very long, so I shortened it): http://is.gd/2XuDM

Hopey, when I switched from Group Health to Swedish I tried to see Dr. Okorn and she wasn't taking new patients. Maybe she is now. I see Dr. Hyde for my regular stuff, she does OBGYN too, although I'm not having any more children!

Huh! I've been seeing Dr. Okorn for a few years now, so I had no idea her roster was full.
There are two other doctors at the Swedish West Seattle clinic who are family physicians with obstetrics, but I don't have any personal knowledge of either of them.

I love, love love Dr. Dagg - both as an ob/gyn and for my kids.

oh and natural is not that bad. :)
There are several Bradley Method instructors here in West Seattle - we used this and it was really helpful (even if you don't want to go natural - it helped us understand the process of labor. Made it a lot less scary).

R26 - I am interested in doing natural birth. I am due Jan 1 with my 1st. It is all a scary, new experience for me but I would love more info about natural birth. Can you post here or e-mail me with more information about the Bradley Method instructors around here? hsmelko@gmail.com Thanks!

One word of caution. Choose your bradley instructor carefully. The one we took was quite unprofessional and seemed more intent on spreading her political/parenting philosphies than actually giving us the tools we needed.
We did ultimately have a natural birth but moreso because I had rapid progression and there was no time for drugs than because I actuallly had the tools to deal with the intensity of the pain in the birthing process.

I love love loved my OB, but she is on First Hill too, Dr. Teresa Law. She was wonderful. I also used the Bradley Method and had great success with it. Dr Law was very supportive of my desire for a natural childbirth.

I know it's OT but I agree very much with Heniz57Mom. I wish I'd heeded that advice with the birth of my child!
It's so personal and yet people constantly want to give unwanted advice and opinions. No listening skills!
OK, good luck with the search.
