(Inspired by the "for the love of our families" post, but hoping in this case to prevent harm--to my knowledge, nothing bad has happened, yet.)
...but I see drivers doing scary things here. Wednesday, for example, as I was stopped, northbound on California, turning west onto Genesee at about 8:50 am, a lady southbound on California in a black SUV swerved to avoid another southbound car which had paused, having pulled to the right in preparation for turning west, to allow a pedestrian to cross Genesee. The lady in the SUV was traveling a little fast, and as she swerved, she shook her head with an angry look. Now, perhaps I misread her, but it looked to me as if she were impatient with the car that had paused. What, for goodness sake, did she think this car should have done? Hit the pedestrian, so it could get out of her way?
There is a childcare entrance on Genesee, just around the corner from California. Far too often, I see cars whip around that corner, just when there are very small children being crossed and let out of cars there. These children seem well-supervised, but all it takes is one moment of distraction, and a small child, heedless of danger, could dash into the street in this rather complex traffic situation.
PLEASE SLOW DOWN AND PAY ATTENTION, BEFORE SOMETHING AWFUL HAPPENS HERE. (And be patient with cars waiting to turn--they may be waiting for a pedestrian!)
