Another false alarm by the media.....

  1. They can't predict 24 hours out but want us to buy their global warming crap? Nice!

Prepare for the one inch snowmageddon!!!

actually, the correct term is 'global climate change' and according to conservatives, it is vast conspiracy of left wing scientists. To refer to it as 'global warming' and use a snowstorm as evidence that global warming couldn't possibly exist just shows that you listen to Faux Noise *way* too much.

  5. Smitty, let's try something a lot simpler than weather. Flipping coins, for instance.

I cannot predict whether the next one will be heads or tails, but I do have a pretty good idea that the next hundred will be very near a 50/50 split.

  6. No, read it again.

I am not saying a snowstorm is evidence that it doesn't exist (like the media uses every day 1 degree over "normal as proof that it does). I am simply saying they can't predict the weather 24 hours out so why in the heck should we trust their 10-20-100-year forecasts????

    Weather ≠ climate.

    We all know this:

    1) Any amount of snow in Western WA is going to be news. Scare tactics add a short burst to the local economy...new shovels, de-icer, groceries, gloves, hats, boots, etc.

    2) 1" to 4" around the Puget Sound - given the hill factor is still dicey for days.

    3) Jim Foreman would not have a job if it wasn't for the added risk they send him out in... ;)

I especially like the new UW weather model program...it's like they are trying to predict what Mother Nature's On Base Percentage is in MoneyBall.

  9. 3a)And the parka industry would not have enjoyed such consistently high profits over the last many years.

  10. dawsonct is correct.
    Weather is different than climate.
    What I find puzzling is:
What do we lose by reducing our pollutants and carbon emissions?
What do we lose if the "nay-sayers" on climate change are incorrect?

  11. "Prepare for the one inch snowmageddon!!!"

Do you care to admit you were wrong now or would you rather change the subject?

  12. I keep waiting for "No Snow" to chime in...

  13. smitty...

if you add cream to that snow that isn't in your yard you can make ice cream..

unfortunately, i don't see an upside to global warming

To those who think the weather people know nothing, looks to me like they did quite well with the forecast and its still coming down. At 29 degrees its not going away either. I realize what problems it causes but I still like it. I'd walk to store if not 29. I like to go out when it snows, I'm from Yakima and have the boots, warm coat, gloves to maintain for a while. But I know the wind or breeze makes it colder than that.

I'm very concerned for the Nickelodians but helples to help. I'm so thankful for my warm apartment and no worries about freezing weather.
What if it was that many inches of rain?

  17. Betty, you may have already seen this on another thread, but the "munchkins" were planning on stopping by today.

I heard the munchkins(think I'm right) that they made two deliverys yesterday. People are so good about stepping up when needed. Both giving and delivering. Hopefully I can make it ok by Saturday. It's supposed to warm up to low 30's this afternoon and freezing rain stop. For the sake of Nickelsville residents lets hope so. Weather permitting I plan on going earlier Saturday.
