Announcing WInter Movies on the Wall - suggestions needed!

  1. You loved the summer outdoor movies in The Junction ... now ... guess what .. it's WINTER MOVIES ON THE WALL!

    Indoors, though.

As a co-sponsor, we are pleased to bring you first word that a three-movie series is planned for March 7th, 14th, 21st -- three Saturday nights at 7 pm -- inside the new West Seattle Christian Church activity center (which is just across 42nd SW, east of the courtyard where the summer movies happen).

And here's where your help is needed -- Remember the nomination process for summer movies? Organizer Lora Lewis from Hotwire Coffee (WSB sponsor) wants to get suggestions for this series too! What would you like to see? Remember, we're going for an all-ages crowd, so nothing too adult, but it's not necessarily kid stuff, either, if you recall from the summer series.

You can discuss possibilities here but best of all worlds is to post your ideas in comments on the new West Seattle Outdoor Movies site at

Thanks for your help and ideas!!!!!

Oh this is so great! Yay. We missed all the summer movies due to timing so this is really nice!

My suggestion would be: Wall-E. Also, Kiki's Delivery Service or My Neighbor Totoro.

I will ask the little guy, too.

I don't remember what movies played during the summer so I hope I don't repeat any.

    The Breakfast Club
    Forrest Gump
    The Big Lebowski
    Full Metal Jacket
    The Green Mile
    Robin Hood: Men in Tights
    And I second WALL-E!

Thanks for all the suggestions. We're looking forward to this mini-series in March. I know I'm pretty much climbing the walls by then.

I'll contact Disney regarding Wall-E they usually don't allow their films in public places to be shown other than select months of the year.

Lucas Films is always a 'no-go' which is strange.

Airplane is great, Shirley? Surely! Please keep the suggestions going as we'll be picking the final line-up within the next week or so.

  12. How about THE BIG CHILL. Seems appropriate for the weather...

Duck Soup might be fun, too, especially after the recent election..

The Lord of the Rings series

I love Moonstruck. I just watched it about a week ago. I love when Grandpa and the dogs howl at the moon.

Three words - RUDY RAY MOORE!

I'll put in my $0.02USD for Talladega Nights: The Ricky Bobby Story or Madagascar for the younger set.

Just as an observation - it's always interesting to note that you never see any foreign films suggested. Which is fine with me since sitting through two hours of "Jurgtep Who Sits by the Fire", a sensitive and moving portrait of an angry young swineherd's coming of age, is not my idea of a good time.

Hey I'd sit through Almodovar, though. Also Mike Leigh although I don't think he counts as foreign.
