I have an amazing 3-year old cat who needs a great indoor/outdoor situation. He loves West Seattle. We've been visiting from the East Coast all summer, and I can't bear the thought of taking him back to a small apartment. He loves his new lifestyle. Loyal, cuddly, energetic, and named Roosevelt. Do you have a great yard and need a great cat to complete it?

Honestly, the ONLY reason I am even considering giving him away is that he simply loves it here and I worry he'll be miserable going home.

Email me and I'll send picture. Once you see pictures your heart will melt.

  2. Information about Roosevelt, including a photo, and contact information for his dad can be found on the Friends of the Animals Foundation page at http://www.petfinder.com

  4. Bobby, you honestly think that the cat would be happier having access to outdoors, despite how he might feel about missing you? Something just seems off about this. I love my cat with all my heart and couldn't imagine a scenario where I'd move across the country and leave him behind, just because he liked the outdoors.

  5. even if you do find him a new home he will need to be locked inside for a minimum of 2 weeks. as he will need to get to know the area. then he will be miserable that way too.

i will just leave it at that

How will a different yard (not guaranteed) and a different human make the cat happier than he would be if he stayed with his owner?

I came across a coyote den with pups just this week, in a densely populated area. I think Roosevelt would prefer to be with his humans in an apartment rather than in the jaws of a coyote, or under the wheels of a car.

Holy crap people, do we need to attack everyone who posts on this blog? Seriously, there are better ways to get the message across. The only thing this person could have possibly done worse was try and find a better life for an off leash pitbull, once seen tied up outside a grocery store, who blocks the whole sidwalk when he walks, and poops on the grass without picking it up.

Or try saying something in a nice tone. Like "hello bobbyself - being new to west seattle, you might not be aware that we have a large population of coyotes around here that have taken a number of cat's lives this year. I just wanted to make you aware of that so you can factor it into your decision."

Ha, I just realized my post was kinda attacking the people I was accusing of attacking the original poster. Oh the irony! Well terribly sorry, I just want us all to be happy and get along.

I am done thread-jacking now. Good luck finding Roosevelt a good home.

There's a difference between disagreeing and/or pointing out simple facts and asking relevant questions and ATTACKING. What I see more and more here is a complete intolerance of any opinion that disagrees in any way with an original post. IMO, that's what makes WSB a forum and not a fan club.

Forums can be used for different purposes. In this one, the original poster was going for "is anyone interested in adopting my cat" which requires a yes or no answer. The "nos", which is the category you fall into, generally don't have to say anything. Had the original poster said "hey there, I'm posting to see if anyone wants to adopt my cat, but if you don't, please offer any and all opinions on why you think trying to find my cat a better home is a horrible idea. All judgement welcome." Nope, that's not the purpose of this post. You weren't pointing out simple facts. If you wanted to do that you could have done it nicer, but instead what it appears you did is get up on your little soap box and call the original poster a horrible person.

Plus, if FAF is helping him place his cat, then I'm sure Marianne has discussed all the options for his cat.

  13. Thanks EmmyJane!
And seriously people-I am pretty sure bobbyself wasn't looking for a new home for his cat just so he could listen to your unwarranted judgement. Your opinions without facts to the situation. Especially without inquiring about further details. Why not ask purposeful questions as to his current vs. usual living situation. Be curious about why he think his cat might be happier in Seattle. I imagine you'd find a well thought out reason.
    Typical passive-aggressive BS.

Wow, some seriously delusional accusations going on here. Please point out where I called someone a "horrible person". Please point out where it is required to respond to posts with a yes or no answer, or else STF up. And if that's the case, why didn't YOU? Didn't several of you just give your opinions without any facts at all? Didn't several of you just launch an unwarranted personal attack, making all kinds of wild and vicious assumptions, based on a couple of OBJECTIVE sentences that were actually related to the post? Who's the passive aggressive here? Wait, I forgot, it's the new favorite WSB buzzword and, more often than not, precisely describes the user of the term.

  15. Children, children simmer down or we're going to have to separate you. Look, there's some nice Lincoln logs in the corner.....

(edited to exclude my comments that were off topic to the original post.) This thread has been sufficiently hijacked and I apologize to the original poster for my part in it. I hope Roosevelt finds a great home.
