Does anyone have an account or experience with ally Bank? After just reviewing my money market and savings accounts and the insanely low interest rates, I need to do something different. ally bank seems to have the best rates but with things mainly being online only I need some more information, makes me a little nervous.

I just have CDs with Ally, but I've been very happy with them. I can call them anytime if I need to, and they're always friendly and helpful. CD rates are lousy everywhere (while bankers continue to rake in $$$$$), but Ally usually ranks near or at the top for rates.
I have an account with Ally and they're at least as good as regular banks in terms of phone service. Their rates are slightly better than others because they don't have to maintain bank branches. Seems like they do send out a lot of unnecessary mail, though. Stuff like privacy policy updates . . .
They were once owned by GMAC and received some $17 billion in federal bailout money. As of 2011, the US Treasury was a majority owner. Don't know if that's still true.

No thanks, Dobro - ally's rates WAY beat BECU.... the 6.17% interest rate on the home page is only for your first $500, then it drops to 0.10%.
