BrassyMommaParticipantToday at 3:45ish I was coming home and caught a man approx 6’3″, extremely skinny, Black greasy hair coming from out of his baseball cap, face scruff, grey/black backpack with some orange on it sitting eating a sandwich where the back fence used to be across from our set of condos. (I rent – so I’m not a condo-owner…don’t hate me!)
I waited and watched. He got up, started walking towards our condos and started checking out the cars, looking into back and side windows and then looking around the parking lot. He seemed confused when he started heading towards the stair well area of the building, then came back out from there, and slid between two cars back to the alley road.
He proceeded to go towards the trash bins, then went behind that fence and stopped. He started looking down the hill and might have been trying to walk down that side of our weird hill there. While he was looking around, he then saw me and started to try to leave. By now I was on the phone with dispatch/911 and he started walking into the grass behind us towards 42nd. I followed him to try and get a description – Black hair, scruffy face, yadda yadda. He walked into traffic and then turned around to face me and started coming to me asking “do you know what time it is?”. He’s aggressive enough to confront, but didn’t stick around.
Now – here’s the actual issue…During the call I told dispatch he appeared to be prowling the cars and checking out the building suspiciously, and was now walking towards me, but because he wasn’t “trying the doors or got in” she said it wasn’t prowling. She continued to insist he was not, by definition, prowling. He was gone by the time she was done correcting my own definition of prowling cars or homes. No police are going to be coming to check, apparently.
So, I just want to put out the word we’ve gotten checked out in case anyone has any run-ins with this guy. If you live with alley access be on the lookout. If I see him again, I’ll try to get photos. These holiday events should be safe times for our homes while we are out. But, sadly, I guess not even the daylight is going to help keep the desperate away.

I don’t want to be wicked specific where I live on here, but can be in email if you send me one. :)

JanSParticipantit wold help if it was known if it was on 42nd closer to the Admiral District,or the Alaska Junction, or closer to Gatewood, or closer to Arbor Heights. It doesn’t have to be specific, but 42nd is a long, long street. And it doesn’t cross California, it runs parallel. It would help for people to be more on the lookout. I don’t think you want to be inundated with emails.
