Adult TDaP Booster Shot

I need a tetanus booster. There is a relatively new adult booster for tetanus, diptheria and pertussis. I believe the name of the shot is "Adocel". According to what I've been reading on the web, it's been making people pretty sick. If you've had this shot, please share your side effects if any. Thanks.

  2. I had this last year and it made my arm ache for a while, but I felt a heckuva lot better than if I had gotten Tetanus, diptheria or pertussis.

Any of them can kill you.

  4. I got one last year as well, no side effects.

The thing about reading about most things online is that the people who are going to be compelled to tell their story are the ones who experience some kind of severe reaction. So you read 4 or 5 of these and think that's what happens to everyone. Meanwhile, you don't hear anything from the hundreds of thousands of people who are fine. Of course there is a risk, but very small, IMO.

After having the flu last year and seeing how hellish it really is, I decided to take the risk and get the flu shot (I work in an environment where I am exposed to a great many people every day). Whaddya know, no reaction, just increased immunity.

    Just my 2 cents.

I got this shot years ago; no reactions except a sore shoulder for a couple of days. I agree with Que; a sore arm is much better than getting really sick or dying from one of these diseases. Plus, if you are around infants, adults should really get the Tdap booster since infants aren't fully immunized for these diseases until they are around 6 months old I think (that is if the infant is getting immunizations).

Had one last year. The only side effect was a sore arm.
