aquamarine11ParticipantCan anyone recommend a good acupuncturist in West Seattle? I’m going to try it for arthritis. Anyone have any comments? Thanks

anonymeParticipantAquamarine, I receive acupuncture tx. for arthritis on a regular basis. Unfortunately, my Dr. is not in WS and is not accepting new patients. I can tell you that it does work – and not much else does. It takes diligence and will probably never be “cured”, but much of the pain, swelling, and even the deformity will subside. I also take prescribed Chinese herbal medicine in combination with the acupuncture. SIOM (Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine)can do both for you. My Dr. was the founder of the school. Good luck to you.

LenaParticipantBeing a veterinary acupuncturist, I have referred a lot of people for acupuncture over the years and receive treatments myself quite regularly.
The following three acupuncturists are all very, very excellent and all in West Seattle. I have been to both David and Ellen and love them both. Molly I have sent probably about 20 of my clients (the humans attached to the animals I treat) to over the years and although I have not been to her myself have heard nothing but wonderful things from the people I refer. They may or may not be taking new clients depending on their current client numbers.

dmcMemberMy acupuncturist is Paul Nojaim-
5410 California Ave SW
Seattle, Washington 98136
(206) 923-2053
I really enjoy Paul’s confidence and his calm demeanor. I appreciate his “bedside manner” because he is very considerate and answers all of my questions with as much detail as I can understand.
I have seen Paul for pain issues surrounding Fibromyalgia off and on for several years. It is the most helpful method of pain relief I have found for treating my symptoms.
Good luck with your treatment. I am hopeful it will help you!

charlabobParticipantMiranda Taylor is excellent; I first went to her for major arthritis pain — she’s gentle but feisty — she was my first and I was scared to death; she was reassuring and persistent.

She’s also involved with communichi (another excellent sliding fee clinic.)

JasperbluParticipantI highly recommend Laura Zaneiski at Westside Acupuncture on California Ave. and Hanford (just south of West Seattle High School). She’s GREAT and really helped w/ my pain management from a torn rotator cuff injury in Jan 2010. Went to her at least 2x a month for almost a year. Would go back at least 1x a month even now, just for the relaxation of it if I had the extra $$ lying about. She also does massage therapy and Chinese herbs.

aquamarine11ParticipantThank you all for your recommendations. Unfortunately not one of the names appear on the list of acupuncturists that my insurance company covers. I’m kind of at a loss. I’ll have to do more research I guess.
On another note…for all of you who suffer from osteoarthritis…try CERTO in a glass of grape juice or pomegranate juice. (I used 2 tablespoons of certo). I tried some for the first time today. My fingers were hurting. Later this afternoon I noticed they didn’t hurt so much anymore. I’ve heard it works. I’m thinking it does!

andreaParticipantaquamarine…I too have very particular insurance (Group Health) that precluded many providers, but was able to get in to see Dr. Chunlin Gao in the Medical Dental building downtown (6th Ave, kitty corner from Pacific Place). She is a native of China and is a certified medical doctor (ob/gyn) as well as an accupuncturist. If you are not adverse to leaving West Seattle, she is truly a miracle worker. My mother goes to her for arthritis, tinnitus, and thyroid issues and has found amazing relief and comfort with Dr. Gao. I went to her throughtout my recent twin pregnancy as I was having issues early on, and she helped me to maintain a healthy pregnancy and keep the babies in utero until almost their due date (and I worked full time up until the day before I had them!). Good Luck in your search!
