Does anyone else think the 9-11 memorial fountains look very dangerous? There's no barrier between the sidewalk and a 30-foot drop into the pool below. How would a kid get out who fell in? Then, there's another drop off in the middle of that? I just can't get over the risky design!

it's not a playground, It's a memorial. I suppose if kids are there with their parents, that the parents would keep an eye. But that's in an ideal world. Not sure what to tell you on this. I think the memorial is lovely. Perhaps they will make it so you can't walk up to the very edge.

I found a picture on-line that shows adults standing at the wall with a small rail just above it that is slightly higher than waist level. It seems that kids cannot accidentally fall in, they would have to be climbing the wall and over the rail for that to happen. I don't get the concern.. as JanS said, its not a playground.

oddreality, I believe that they are discussing the memorial at Ground Zero in NYC where the Towers used to stand.

The will be hauling skateboarders out of there with a winch and a backboard within a year. The rail is an "attractive nuisance"

All due respect to the memorial but esthetically I find it uninspiring. It seems to lack meaning or relevance looking more like gigantic drain boxes that on a windy day will be cluttered with all manner of debris.

Yes - it looks like a giant drain! I find it so ominous looking, not at all uplifting and peaceful as I would have hoped the memorial would be. I hope no kids/drunk people/suicidal people fall in, but if they do they better have a crane standing by.

Although it does give me an idea of what we can do with the Whole Foods Hole...
