  3. This is another one of those "deal sites." We have not banned the posting of these free ads - there's at least one other "deal site" that posts its deals here from time to time - although our original intent for "freebies/deals/sales" was for members to be able to mention to each other when they saw something amazing, in the "real world" as well as via some "deal site." The rules will change when the almost-done-cooking classified section goes up, but for now, unless someone is pretending NOT to be from the actual company pitching the deal, it's not technically breaking the rules. We do appreciate the flags, just in case.

And remember, if you're going to respond to advertising, the fabulous WSB sponsors in the right rail provide the revenue that keeps this train on track, so whenever you do business with any of them, please consider thanking them for being part of the WSB sponsor team.

Personally, I love it when people alert me to these local deals. Most of the deals on the "deal sites" are not in West Seattle. I love the chance to stay local and still save money. Someone posted a dealpop deal for West Seattle Animal Hospital a while back that was really helpful.

I don't want these types of things to overrun the forums but I personally feel they have a place in promoting neighborhood businesses.

  5. I do like seeing deals but I think it's different when someone (a customer) who spots a deal comes to post them, or the business owner - like PJ from the X Gym, rather than a company paid to advertise deals (like Groupon, or apparently Crumblrr). Just doesn't feel right but not my call.
