2nd "women of a certain age" forum meetup 12/10?

  1. The first women of a certain age meet-up sparked friendships that weathered the test of presidential elections :)

But a lot of new women have joined the forum since then...

Anyone interested in a breakfast meet-up
at Luna Park Cafe Sat Dec 10 9AM ?

If you think you're of a certain age, come -- after that it's pretty self-selecting.

Good point, transplentella -- sign me up for the sleep in on Saturday morning men welcome subgroup. I think we need a calendar master.

  6. you can't please all of the people all of the time:)

transplantella... I don't know about you..
but Saturday morning breakfast was all i could squeeze into my pre-holiday schedule...

i can't think of a better way to start the day than among my not always so politically correct female friends ;->

  7. If a man were in charge of this group, everything would have been arranged by now.

    Just sayin' . . .

  8. DBP...is that because you guys don't have lives?

    Posted 5 months ago #
  9. Right on - DBP! I would come in drag just to show em that it is no big deal! What can be so difficult about a 9AM "panacke breakfast?" And "charlabbob" says that men are OK.

BDP - lets think about carpooling?

transplantella... save one leg ... one before and one after...

  11. And...you guys want to join the mom's group? Or the knitters group? WTF? Do you really feel all that deprived?

  12. "If a man were in charge of this group, everything would have been arranged by now.

But gosh, there doesn't seem to be a man in charge nor have any of the forum guys tried to plan anything at all for themselves. Come on, how about a "forum guys" breakfast or drink fest or whatever? Should be pretty easy for the men to plan, right?

  13. i don't know how a simple breakfast meetup for a bunch of somewhat older women has become a male bashing event?

heck.. if we had known it was this easy to get male attention..
we would be scheduling weekly breakfasts with a big MEN NOT ALLOWED sign on the table.

    get a grip guys...
none of us will be comparing the size of our ...
you can fill in the blanks.

as for this attention getting ploy... i only
wish this would work at department stores where i am still somehow invisible.. even with a wad of cash in my fist :(

yup.. that's the sort of thing that concerns women of a certain age ..
    that and world peace :)

I am going to go in and ask the nice folks at Luna if they will save the booth for us...
and i am going to show up at Luna this saturday at 9 AM...

probably not wearing a pixie hat or anything
though my toenails are painted a shade that would do Morticia Adams proud...

    and have breakfast..
hopefully with both old and new friends.

there! how is that for decisive?

  14. I think I can actually make this. I'm probably younger than one would assume is a "certain age" but my knee injury makes me feel about 120 right now, so I'll fit right in. :)

Jan, are you going? Do you need a lift?

    Posted 5 months ago #
  15. Saturday works for me. See you at 9:00. Franci

    Posted 5 months ago #
  16. I am going...lift is not decided yet ..

    Posted 5 months ago #
  17. Well, Jan, you know where to find me if you need me. :)

    Posted 5 months ago #
  18. we have lift off..
and it looks like it will be a good crowd for breakfast

  19. Planning on being there. A little pint-sized furryfoster is coming in to my home around the same time, so I can't commit for certain until last minute. Sorry, but that one comes first.

Wait...we're going to just enjoy a ladies breakfast right? So I can show up bra-less in sweats and big sweater, ready to devour some fine hashbrowns and more coffe than I should these days, perhaps talk about last week's mammography or other topics the ladies bring up and just settle in for some good chatting?

This sounds like a guy's worst nightmare...and good time for meeting new folks. Goodstuff.

  20. smy. that's the plan. If guys show up, they can sit at their own table, and have their own conversation. We're not stopping them. But, yes, if they are truly into what we'll be talking about, well, I'm not sure what to say...maybe we should just record it for posterity - lol...

  21. Hello ladies of a certain age! Sue is that you? It is Wren. HOw the heck are you? Looks like a lively conversation. I got locked out of the blog for a few days and couldn't log in.

the meet up sounds great. I confess I am not an early morning person and I am also getting ready for a party on Sunday but I will try to stop by.

I can get a bit introverted on occssion so if you see a woman wearing a black down jacket and purple that looks a little hesitant - it is probably me!

    Posted 5 months ago #
  22. Yes, Wren ... it's Sue from church. :) Hope we'll see you Saturday!

  23. women of a certain age are self selecting
if you think you have reached the age where speaking your mind is more important than checking your reflection.. at any age
you could be one of us

    Posted 5 months ago #
  24. Hi, I'd like to go. I didn't hear about the first one or I couldn't come. What can I say, I don't remember....I am of a certain age, after all!

I have no idea what anyone else looks like, so I'll be the lost-looking redhead.

    Posted 5 months ago #
  25. sydeny...
i used to be a redhead...
now i am more a golden grey...
i am going to try for the corner booth
but if not i will make sure the staff knows were to find us..

i'd put a ladies only sign on the table
but I fear it only draws unwanted male attention ;->

  26. Ha ha! JoB, I used to be a brunette!

    Posted 5 months ago #
  27. sydney...
it seems as i fade, you bloom:)
I'll try to wear something colorful to compensate.

  28. 6 of of enjoyed breakfast together at the Luna.
I hadn't realized it would be so crowded at 9.. so next time we will look for a place with easier parking.

    Posted 5 months ago #
  29. was a good time, good breakfast....definitely noisy and next time maybe a place with a round table :) missed some of the conversation at the other end of the table :)

    Posted 5 months ago #
  30. sorry I wasn't well this morning at all! Had to go back to bed instead of leaving. Majorly bummed. Next time I hope a quiet place because I'm so deaf (now that you mention it JanS) :D
