Erik...
please don't hear this as a criticism..

but there is a huge difference between the effectiveness of individuals attending meetings where they can find chamber members

and an event where the public is invited to give input concerning the development of their community...

even though AlkiBeach and i seldom agree on anything...

i think this is a really great idea.

It is a lot easier to maintain the integrity of a neighborhood if you define what makes it special to start with...

development for the sake of development only produces an imitation of anywhere America. I admit that it is better when the imitation is livable.. but this peninsula has a lot that is unique and it would be a shame to see that disappear.

the chamber is the perfect organization to spearhead this investigation.. and a lull in development makes this the perfect time.

I don't know how many on the WS Chamber board read the WSblog so you may have to contact them @ http://www.wschamber.com/ with your idea(s).

If you're really interested in persuing this with them there are ample opportunities (some cost$, some are free) to meet with fellow chamber members @ functions, in fact there was one today at the SW Precinct where the WSBlog was also in attendance.

I think it would be great if the West Seattle Chamber would host a “Define West Seattle’s Identity” conference. It should include of course city planners, developers, architecture firms and West Seattle Neighbors such as what the Seattle Monorail did for the stations that were proposed here. What do you think?
