my 2 cents, which isn't worth much - lol. I was able to see the Phoenix website if I was patient, but the feeling that I got from it was "meh"....it didn't seem inspired to me...but what the heck do I know?

Going to second Leslie Sierra - good stuff! Did the OP ever get someone? And on the topic of 3 months passing, I just went to that Phoenix site and it does nothing for me either. You'd think that after all this time and no one being able to actually see their work, some changes might have been made, lol.

I second the opinion that flash is unsuitable for developing webpages.

Sure I can see it after enabling scripting, but flash as well as reader and pretty much every Adobe program even with current updates, are considered major security risks.

Set that aside for a moment.

Usability and accessibility are destroyed by the urge for control by the designer. You can't even cut and paste the contact info (or anything else) into another page or an email. Many people cannot use the "mailto"
function of the contact page since they use something other than the default version of outlook to read and send mail. I use "view source" regularly to make sure links are not redirected using alternate ip numbering variations.

The bottom line for me is, I refuse to buy anything from sites that use flash as the total site tool. I don't mind flash being used as an *element* of a web site (since flashblock works fine), but using the main landing page as a massive animation means I click the back button immediately.

I assume phoenix only puts very low traffic sites on their shared hosting server since it currently has 156 other sites sharing the same IP.

Bob's got a good point about the Phoenix page. They might have fast turnaround time on projects but that web page is anything -but- fast.
I wasn't going to say anything 'cause I'm on a Linux box using Firefox and I'm used to being treated as a 2nd-class citizen by website designers. But the flash functionality on their own page doesn't work - (clicked 'skip' a million times and it didn't 'skip' anything) and once it does load (slooooow) every page in their portfolio either hangs, or takes several seconds to do anything. And it's not like I'm on a dial-up connection - this is with high speed broadband connections.
QA process should definitely be a consideration when choosing a designer.

You know, that Phoenix place is just a blank dead black page on my old PC. Yes, I know, it's because it doesn't have the latest fribbles and superdup-ulators. But look. Any decent Web page should be easily readable by blind people. Or people who have macular degeneration and have to enlarge the type a lot to read it. This isn't like designing hats and fashion accessories. Before you choose a "designer," you might want to have a few elderly friends look at their work first.

I recommend her to everyone I know who needs help creating or updating their website.
