DianeParticipanthappens everywhere in this city in the winter; I was trying to cross a street in lower Queen Anne on Sunday, and edged out further and further to be seen by drivers; they all flew by me, even the metro bus; had to wait til all the traffic got through to cross; pedestrians be aware, cars/buses often do not stop, so don’t just walk out/assume they will; you’ll be dead

anonymeParticipantThis is always frustrating, but it seems worse lately. I live on I-35, and it’s often impossible to get across the street – even when standing in the street itself, cars will not stop. As I was trying to cross in an intersection recently, a driver stopped and started screaming at me that I had no business trying to cross when there was no marked crosswalk.
FYI, motorists: a crosswalk is legally defined as any two intersecting corners at an intersection. It does not need to be marked.
