I love all the indy theaters in the city with the exception of 45th ave. in Wallingford. They didn't stagger the seats. :( But the Columbia City theater is awesome. IAWYC!!! I saw Ponyo there and it was so great. That little bookstore in Columbia City is really great, too.

Yes! We saw Fantastic Mr Fox Saturday (last day was today) and Up a few months ago. Even popped into the second hand store next door to kill a few minutes since we were early. Also keep in mind for parties - they rent out at least one of their viewing rooms. We will return!

Also a fun cinema experience is Central Cinema, which is on 22nd at Union in the central district. It is a super fun venue for both old and indy films. They serve delicious food (their salads, pizzas and calzones are all great) and beer and wine. You can be seated an hour before the movie for dinner service. And they have Great Popcorn with either curry or brewer's yeast (which sounds super strange and is really yummy and nutty). I love both Columbia City and Central Cinema, and they both feel like little hidden gems in our neighborhoods.

SUPPORT INDEPENDENT THEATERS!

My new favorite movie theatre! First run movies, quaint ambiance, comfortable seats, free street parking, EXCELLENT POPCORN!!, Starbuck's on the corner (they allow outside coffee drinks) and only 5 miles away. Right now they are showing Avatar, Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and the Chipmonks. The screens are not huge, but the sound was pretty good. Matinee tickets were $6.00 and I bought a large popcorn, large soda and big redvines for under $10.00. We felt good about not taking out a second mortgage to go to see Avatar yesterday. Also, Tutta Bella pizza is down the street and is yummy!

Not exactly West Seattle, but pretty close!
