aaguirre2450ParticipantI know this is a long shot but I’m trying to get the word out. I’m facing serious financial difficulty paying for the treatment my 5 year old cat Chloe needs. She is in acute kidney failure and needs aggressive treatment. It’s breaking my heart to watch her suffer at home because I can afford treatment. If you are able to help or know anyone who can please go to this link
Thank you

Talaki34ParticipantWhere are you located? Who is your Vet, what are they saying she needs done and for how much?
Other then the website, is there a way to donate? Like directly to the Vets office?
Have you contacted Furry Faces? They may be able to help. If they can’t, they can give information that will get you moving in the right direction.
January 27, 2013 at 4:09 pm #783604
hammerheadParticipantI read your story, Sorry for what is happening.
Will the stones come back? What then? Surgery is tough enough, did the vet say she could make it threw that? From what you have said it sounds like she is suffering now. Is there any coming back from it?
Thing about her and quality of life. I know this sounds harsh and cruel but it is really it about her isn’t it?
My own cat is in kidney failure, as for right now she is doing ok. That can change tomorrow. I will do what is best for her not me.

SueParticipantI’m so sorry to hear about this. I’m owned by a cat and can’t imagine how hard it would be to know they needed care and couldn’t afford to do it.
I did have the same questions though as Talaki34 – I immediately thought of Furry Faces and wondered if they knew of resources to help you out. What type of care are they looking at, and while I know that medical stuff has no guarantees, what are they saying about her prognosis? Will there be ongoing care needed that you’ll need assistance with as well? I’d also prefer to donate directly to a vet.

kgdlgParticipantWithout more detailed info and context, these always feel scam-ish to me.
WSB, do you have any rules about asking for money on here?
January 27, 2013 at 5:29 pm #783607
SueParticipantkgdlg, I don’t know about the rules of it, but I always look at it as “buyer beware” – and it’s up to me to decide if it’s worth the risk. I did donate once to a fundraiser to start up a new venture in WS that I read about here on the Forum, on one of those fundraising sites. It was a small amount – like $25 or so – and soon after I donated, the funding site was taken down and I never heard a thing about it again. No email from the person to say what happened, and the venture never materialized to my knowledge. So I can’t help but be cautious now after feeling like I’d been taken once before.
January 27, 2013 at 5:35 pm #783608
Talaki34ParticipantI lost my Miss Kitty to Renal Failure last June. The questions I asked above are so that we might be able to figure out how best to help. If you need help long term, then we might have to look at funding in a different way or from a different approach.
Miss Kitty didn’t require any surgery, but the initial exam, tests and first treatments were costly. Long term though, it became less so. Her maintenance costs were really not that high.
There are also treatment loans that can be applied for. The Vet can help sort through them. Maybe a small loan paid over time and assistance from others might be an option.
Waiting to hear from you and Chloe.

grogParticipantAfter reading the OP and then looking at their fund-raising site this has the aroma of a scam, so be cautious if/when giving. The fact that the profile (aaguirre2450) was created for this posting leads towards that suspicion in my mind. And it’s only that, suspicion, not an accusation.
As asked by another poster, ‘can we donate directly to the vet’? There are a lot of us on here who would gladly help if we had some assurances this was legit, we don’t want to see or hear of any pet suffering needlessly.
So aaguirre2450, please provide your vets contact info and ask them if they are willing to accept donations on behalf of your beautiful black kitty, I can’t stand the thought of it suffering or that cute blonde girl crying her eyes out and not being able to enjoy life because of how torn-up she must be about Chloe.
I(we) care and want to help.
January 27, 2013 at 7:43 pm #783610
aaguirre2450ParticipantI’m sorry for the confusion everyone. Yes this is legit and I guess I never considered it would be thought of as a scam. So yes contact the vet directly. It’s south Seattle veterinary hospital 206-242-8338. My last name is Aguirre and the cats name is Chloe.
January 27, 2013 at 7:51 pm #783611
aaguirre2450ParticipantAnd also The fury faces foundation has my information as well and I met with one of them at the vets office so please feel free to contact them as well. Thank you everyone for the kind words and as far as what’s needed in the long term I’m not sure yet. She was kept overnight and given IV fluids and a repeat blood labs which still looked very bad. She’s at home getting SUBQ treatment and we take her back in a week to repeat labs. Once those come back the vet will have a better idea wether or not she needs more aggressive treatment. I’ll keep everyone up to date.

grogParticipantAguirre family, I’ll be calling the vets office tomorrow with my C.C. in hand.
Good luck to Chloe and all of you!!!!
January 27, 2013 at 9:48 pm #783613
kgdlgParticipantAguirre, really? You are a brand new member here and your first post asks for money. I wasn’t accusing you of scamming, but I am glad you provided real context. Just so you know, most people who post here are active and we all have a sense of who they are and that they are “real” WS community members. For all we know you could be in Denver or Chicago posting in multiple cities, which, while your prerogative, would not be cool with me, can’t speak for others.
I know it might seem weird to get really personal on here, but that is how safe this community feels.
January 27, 2013 at 10:03 pm #783614
miwsParticipantkgdlg, I think a couple things need to be considered here.
This is obviously a very emotional time for Aguirre, and the possibility that this may appear to be a scam to some, may not have even crossed their mind.
Also, Aguirre may be a long time follower of the Forums, that has never otherwise felt a need to post here. Also, it may be someone who has posted before, but under another name, and wants to keep the two Forum persona separate.
Also, in line with my first two points, if this person has been a regular reader of the Forums, they may simply feel as familiar with them, as we regular posters are.
Hopefully, to alleviate any concerns that other folks may still have, Furry Faces will weigh in on this topic, to confirm they have indeed been in contact with Aguirre.

January 27, 2013 at 10:46 pm #783615
kgdlgParticipantThanks miws. Again, I wasn’t accusing her but what you are seeing in my posts is a little bit of my uncomfortable feeling around asking for money in this space without a lot of ccontext. I have absolutely no issues with folks like jans or businesses like meanders putting out personal requests, but that is in part because they are so well known on here. And i am thankful for fff for coordinating most of the animal related asks. The less people think it is a scam the more people will help, too! Sorry if I sounded judge-y I just wanted to clarify.
Also, congrats on the choppers!

furryfacesParticipantWe met Chloe and her human mom on Saturday, at South Seattle Vet. We are assisting financially, however, additional funds are needed.
Chloe’s mom is a West Seattle person and she is very, very broken up over her kitty’s condition. If you can help Chloe, that would be wonderful.

miwsParticipantJanuary 27, 2013 at 11:53 pm #783618
aaguirre2450ParticipantI’m sorry if I broke any forum rules. I posted in the same place as furry faces did, but I think what I should have done was ask furry faces post on my behalf. I’m not proud of having to ask and if it were anything else I never would dream of it. My cat Chloe is just so young to have this be happening and I’ve done everything I can think of to come up with my own funds so I don’t have to be a that person asking for handouts. But I sit here and feel so helpless and my daughters been very upset as well. If I broke any rules I will delete everything and request fury faces to post on my behalf. I’m sorry to the community if I’ve done anything wrong. I just so badly want to help my kitty. I just didn’t want her to suffer that’s all.
January 28, 2013 at 12:03 am #783619
SueParticipantaaguirre, to my knowledge, no rules were broken, so no worries. It’s sad that we live in a world where so many people DO scam others that we need to be suspicious of those who are legitimate, and I admit that I do it too. I am glad that F3 is helping you out as they can and that others here are offering some help. I wish you all the best with Chloe and hope you’ll let us know how things go with her and her treatment.
January 28, 2013 at 6:13 pm #783620
furryfacesParticipantIf anyone would like to donate towards Chole’s care and would feel more comfortable donating via Furry Faces Foundation, please feel free to call South Seattle Vet @ 242-8338; tell them you want to ‘donate money on Furry Faces Foundation’s account, for Chole, the cat’. We will apply your donation towards Chole care and treatment.
You may also donate via paypal. Please just include a note that states something like ‘for Chole’.
Thanks again to everyone. It seems like these emergency situations occur in waves and we appreciate your kindness, caring and generosity.
Cheers, The F3 Gang

Talaki34ParticipantDo we have any idea yet what the costs are currently or what they might be within the week?
Teri,
If aaguirre2450 would like someone to talk to that has been through this diagnosis, I would be happy to text my number to you.
This website has some wonderful info. I hope it helps. http://www.felinecrf.com/
January 29, 2013 at 3:13 am #783622
furryfacesParticipantThanks Takaki34!
We don’t know the full costs yet…but at least over $300.00. Depending on Chloe’s blood-work readings next week, the Vet will know if ‘full flushing’ or some other treatment, will stabilize Chloe. In a young cat, this/these treatments can sometimes provide years of a quality life, along with diet changes and at home administered fluids.
January 29, 2013 at 3:55 pm #783623
elikapekaParticipantHaving FF’s seal of approval makes me comfortable with donating now. So bump!
January 29, 2013 at 5:03 pm #783624
furryfacesParticipantThank you elikapeka and all of you that have such confidence in our group. Your trust is very important to us.
@aaguirre2450, We highly recommend taking Takaki34 up on her offer. Not only is she a lovely person, she took very good care of kidney kitty and learned what questions to ask the Vet.
January 29, 2013 at 6:23 pm #783625
matthewdarlingMemberi lost my 15 yr old Sweetie Darling last month due to kidney failure… sad and hard time. being as old as she was, quality of life was my impetus in letting her go.
i send all my kitty mojo to chloe…
January 29, 2013 at 7:44 pm #783626
aaguirre2450ParticipantI want to thank everyone for all their kind words. It means a lot to me. Thank you for the links Takaki34 and if you would like to forward your # through furry faces I would very much appreciate it. I’m very thankful to be part of such a wonderful community! I <3 West Seattle!!!!
