One person on another forum pointed out that running the election on their own would be more expensive to the CD, and I imagine that is true to a certain extent, as they run the vote today. Maybe it is time to recognize the role of the CD has evolved, not to mention the ability of rural Washingtonians to get to the polls or receive mail in a timely fashion.
Run two elections each year, a primary and a general election. The CD can piggyback on one of those.

A bit of info on the KCCD election. Some interesting information, including the reasons you have never heard of this (it is aimed primarily at those in the various land resources industries), the CD mission, the history behind it's formation (remember the dust bowl of the 30's? The ridge-line to stream-bed clear-cutting of the 50's, 60's, 70's? Of course you don't. History is just old news, right?), why it is held at this time of the year, the fact that the lack of polling stations, mail-in ballots, and voter information, is because it would cut into the profits of the company that is running the election. Yes, we are reducing access to democracy in order to protect/increase the profits of a private company.
The Founders would be sooooo proud.

Special election Tuesday!
Do you need a ride Freeper?
Or are YOU providing rides for those who want to participate?
This is evidently VERY important to you; I'd like to know what you are doing to increase the voter pool?
What ARE you doing to advance the Democratic process, Freeper?
Yoohoo!! Anyone out there!? Freeper? Hello-o?

Since King county elections is not holding the election, I am pretty sure there will be NO mail-in ballot.

This is an example of what voting could become if libertarians and tax protesters designed an election but refused to pay for it.

Excellent points Ken, and the complete lack of follow-up or explanation of their indignation or the offer of a solution from freepranger makes me believe you are absolutely, 100% correct in your assessment.
Where are you freepranger? We have so many questions left unanswered.

Whereas the link is to unSound politics blog:

And Wheras the site and the poster are devoted to presenting any government connected agency or individual as an enemy of all "right thinking citizens" :

The unvoiced objection is to the King Conservation District (KCD) and it's structure, goals and mandate from the state rather than this vocal concern for disabled voters and their special needs.

http://www.kingcd.org/abo_bac_abo.htm

This happens every year or so. The KCD is chartered under a different set of rules and regulations than other county entities and you really have to be motivated or live/work near one of the polling places to participate.

If the state of even the county could give them funding enough to actually hold elections, it would become a bloated politically attractive battleground to various groups. As it is, only those who have a clue as to what the KCD does, bother to show up and vote at the limited venues.

I was hoping Freeranger could fill us in on the utter importance of this election and how vital citizen's participation is to the conservation district.
And also fill us in on how they will assure that those who aren't fully able will be getting to the polls that day. Maybe the rest of us can pitch in to help!
I like to think I pay at least peripheral attention to politics, but have to admit, this one has slipped right on past me.
