Selected artists will receive 40% of the total commission upon acceptance of the final artwork proposal, 40% percent after documented installation of the artwork, and the remaining 20% after documented de-installation of artwork, photo documentation and a brief project summary have been delivered.

Free: Earthquake home retrofit workshop @ Southwest Library
Nov 18 @ 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Is your home ready for an earthquake? Come to this class at the Southwest Library Saturday, November 18, 2017, 10:30 am–12:30 pm:

Prior to 1980, building codes did not require builders to secure houses to their foundations. This does not mean that every house built before 1980 is “unsecured”, only that it was not a requirement. If your home is not properly secured, it may be at increased risk of “slipping” off the foundation during an earthquake. Retrofitting involves bolting your home to its foundation and providing sheer/pony wall strength.
Learn to become an informed consumer or how to do home retrofit yourself. Retrofit experts will show how to assess your home’s needs and how to use the City of Seattle’s pre-engineered Home Retrofit plans to permit and retrofit your home. No registration required.

Library events are free and everyone is welcome.

This workshop is presented in partnership with the Seattle Office of Emergency Management and Seattle Department of Planning and Development.

Space is limited at library events. Please come early to make sure you get a seat. Due to the fire code, we can’t exceed the maximum capacity for our rooms.
