About the Seattle Seafair Commodores –

For over 60 years, the Seafair Commodores have been serving the Seattle community as the Seafair Festival’s official Goodwill Ambassadors. We are active year round representing Seattle and Seafair at festivals throughout the Northwest and British Columbia, as well as many community service projects. We are proud to be one of the five Seafair volunteer “families” – distinct volunteer groups that were part of the original founding of the Seafair Festival in the 1940s. The Commodores started as a group of Seattle business leaders who came together to raise money for the festival. We continue to honor our original mission by raising money for the Seafair Foundation and Scholarship Program for Women.

‘Spring Celebration’ @ Community General Store
Mar 25 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Come celebrate our new pocket theater with food, story-telling, poetry, and music! We’ll have an open mic, a few select instruments, and drinks to share. Please bring your friends, family, and a dish to pass. This event is family friendly and free for all!

March 25th, 10 am–2 pm

The Community General Store will be opening its doors for a neighborhood spring celebration March 25th, and everyone is welcome. The CGS, a new West Seattle business that offers its members community space and access to a library of unique and beautiful things, will be open to the public for a special day of family-friendly sharing.

“Everyone is feeling the tension of our divided country right now. For months we’ve been huddled inside, worried about what to do next and how to take care of each other in the process. The Spring Celebration is our chance to reach out and remind our neighbors that this is a way to care for each other too, and that it’s okay to celebrate” Kristin Tuttle Tomaschke of the CGS says.

The celebration will include an interactive indoor space for the kids to play as well as opportunities to share food, stories, culture and music.

At the spring celebration, they will also enjoy their small, newly-added stage, sharing puppets and instruments, as well as offering a chance to read books and poetry and tell stories in an open-mic-style event.

To become a member at the Community General Store or learn more, please visit www.communitygeneralstore.com.

Miracle March for Lolita, meetup @ Alki Beach (see listing)
Apr 1 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

We will be gathering at Alki Beach on April 1st in solidarity with the Miracle March for Lolita in Miami.

Lolita was stolen from the waters of Puget Sound in 1970 and is now considered “The World’s Loneliest Orca”. She lost her tank mate, Hugo, in 1980 and since then has been without the companionship of another orca. Lolita suffers day after day at the Miami Seaquarium in a tank that does not even meet USDA standards.

Please join us as we rally to bring Lolita/Tokitea back home to Washington State, to the waters of her birth.

We will posting more details soon at https://www.facebook.com/events/1053310828148690/.
