Are you ready to go on a West Seattle scavenger hunt? Back by popular demand, the 2023 West Seattle Glass Float Hunt kicks off on Saturday, August 5, 2023. This year’s theme is “GO WEST”, inspired by the stunning sunsets of West Seattle, as well as the neighborhood’s geographical direction. Beginning Saturday, August 5th, the West Seattle Junction Association and West Seattle Chamber of Commerce invite everyone to search for glass floats hidden throughout West Seattle. 50 floats will be hidden on August 5th, with 50 more the morning of Saturday, August 12, 2023. A total of 100 floats will be hidden both indoors – in beloved local businesses – and outdoors.
Each 2023 glass float is individually hand blown by Avalon Glassworks in stunning red and yellow hues reminiscent of West Seattle sunsets. Each 4-inch sphere is stamped with a heart and “WS” on the sealing button. Float hunters should look high and low for colorful round balls peeking out through the mesh of a knotted net bag. Labels encourage the lucky finders to register the float, as well as tag the local business where it was discovered on social media.
Chris Mackay, Executive Director of the West Seattle Junction Association, shared, “We are thrilled to bring back our Glass Float Scavenger Hunt this August! This engaging event is for participants of all ages who want to discover new businesses and nature areas as they search for gorgeous glass floats. Come one, come all and have fun combing the area for yellow and orange glass balls!”
Whitney Moore, Executive Director of the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce, added, “We’re so looking forward to our community exploring more of the peninsula and local businesses for the second year of the Glass Float Scavenger Hunt in West Seattle! We hope you delight in this two week search for beautiful, custom-made glass floats. Happy hunting!”
Details for the 2023 West Seattle Glass Float Scavenger Hunt are available at https://wsjunction.org/float-hunt.

The Delridge Farmers Market, put on by African Community Housing & Development, is thrilled to announce its third season in the Delridge neighborhood of Seattle.
The holistic community market prioritizes success for BIPOC business owners and healthy food for the Southwest Seattle region. The market’s opening day is Saturday, May 20th 2023 and runs through October 28th 2023. Community can attend the market every Saturday from 10 am-2 pm at 9421 18th Ave SW between SW Cambridge St and SW Roxbury St.
The Delridge Farmers Market is centered around the principle of abundance and is run by a Black-women-led nonprofit organization, African Community Housing & Development, serving the African Diaspora community in the Greater Seattle Area. The market has become a vital space for small businesses to sell their products and a buzzing social hub for neighbors to enjoy fresh, nourishing food and free resources like plant starts, diapers, and more.
The Delridge Farmers Market is a critical resource for the neighborhood, where it is often more than a 15-minute walk or bike ride to the nearest supermarket. In 2022, over 12,000 pounds of produce were distributed as free grab-and-go produce bags and as direct food assistance for elders and food-insecure community members.
The market features a diverse range of vendors, selling fresh produce, flowers, prepared food, and more. The market also accepts SNAP/EBT (SNAP users can double their dollar by purchasing from a farmers market!), Fresh Bucks, and WIC/Senior FMNP. African Community Housing & Development also offers Kid Bucks: every kid who attends the market gets a $5 voucher to spend on food.
“ACHD is committed to creating a vibrant, welcoming, and abundant market that serves the Delridge neighborhood. We encourage everyone to come every Saturday to support our local vendors and be in community,” said ACHD Associate Director Bilan Aden.

The closest car parking is on 47th Ave SW near the gas station or on Fauntleroy (only on the east side of the road). The northern parking lot is pretty close, too.
