We are having our second annual Block Party on Saturday, June 9th on our property from 1 PM – 4 PM. The event will feature a “rummage sale” and a plant “sale”, which includes plant baskets created by our Community Gardens Manager for a suggested donation. There will be food from local businesses will be available for purchase, including: El Paisano’s (known for their tamales), Patrick’s Bakery (new to White Center), Meat the Live Butcher, JP Work & Associates, and the Conscious Eatery. Sparkling Ice has donated beverages for the event.

We have TommySound donating sound for the event. Tommy and his staff will be guiding students from New Start High School and Evergreen High School to execute sound for the event, with some of the students even featuring their own songs! In addition, we have youth from the community performing at the block party. Miss Sheryl’s ballet studio in downtown White Center will be doing 3 performances, A New Start Student will do hula performances, and we have youth performing spoken word. Lastly, local hip-hop artist Ethos will be performing a few songs!

Many of our community partners will be tabling at the event, including: White Center CDA, Mary’s Place, Southwest Youth and Family Services, Kiwanis of White Center, YWCA, YMCA, Food Lifeline, WestSide Baby, United Way of King County, Amerigroup, and Molina Healthcare.

We hope to this event will raise funds for our food bank but more importantly, bring together our community that has shown us so much love. We’re incredibly grateful for the continuous support this community gives to us.
